Levi Raymond Blake (Age 95) of Waldorf, Maryland.

On Sunday, January 27, 2019, Levi Raymond Blake transitioned peacefully from his earthly life to the heavenly kingdom while at the Genesis Nursing Home in La Plata, Maryland with his loving and appreciative family. He was born on April 20, 1923, to the late Minerva (Smith) Blake and Eugene Beale and raised by Salisbury & Rosie Blake. Levi also was preceded in death by his Sons: Raymond Levi Blake, Jr., Eugene Blake, Joseph Blake, and Lionel Blake.
Reared in Prince George's County, Maryland, Levi was truly a no-nonsense man with passion, determination, and full of love and service for and to all. During his formative years, he developed passions for cooking, gardening, and extracurricular socialization. Levi parlayed his knowledge, skills, and abilities into becoming an exemplary worker with the following: Private 1st Class in the United States Army, School Bus Driver for the Prince George's County Public Schools, Building Service Worker at the former St. Elizabeth's Hospital, and Clerk and Gardening Expert with the former Drug Fair.
Levi's abilities were not only evident in his family and career, but he extended them to civic and social commitments. He was an integral participator and supporter of the State of Maryland and Prince George's County identifying his beloved Chapel Hill community as a town and placing it officially on the map of the state and county land maps.
Levi will always remain an ICON of the Chapel Hill and St. Charles communities. He extended himself to all and remained a favorite of all to visit. Undoubtedly, these communities and countless families will forever remember his warmth and good humor.
Levi leaves to cherish his memory the following: Spouse : Ruth I. Blake; Children : Leon Blake (Ann), Larry Blake (Shirley), Minerva Blake, Lawrence Blake, William Blake (Ernestine), Ricky Blake (Sheena), Linda "Diane" Turner (Michael), James "Cookie" Blake, Donna Blake, Regina "Ann" Blake, Melvin Blake, and Chuckie Blake (Carolyn), Daughter-In- Law: Theresa "Gloria" Blake (Widow of Raymond Jr.) and Clarissa Blake (Widow of Lionel); and Grandc hildren : 2 7; Great Grandchildren : 36; Great Great Grandchildren : 2; and a hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, especially his special Sons, John (Marshall) Proctor and Jerry (Tony) Cooper.
His Viewing will be, 9:00 am, until time of Service, 11:00 am, Friday, February 8, 2019 at Grace United Methodist Church, 11700 Old Fort Road, Fort Washington, Maryland 20744.
Interment, Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, Maryland 20623.
