Heath, Leslie Dawn (Age 58) of Indian Head, Maryland
Our beloved, Leslie Dawn Heath, of Indian Head, MD passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2023, peacefully at Holy Cross Hospital. She was born on January 23, 1965, to Ruth Heath and the late Sylvester Eugene Heath.
Born in Amarillo, TX, Leslie was a military child; traveling and living in many states until the family settled back in Maryland, spending several years in Waldorf, MD where she attended and graduated from Thomas Stone High School. Her final home being in Indian Head, MD. After graduating high school in 1983 she began her career working as a Program Administrator at NCTA and Proctor & Gamble and some additional contractor jobs before stopping her professional career due to her health.
Leslie enjoyed reading, karaoke, bowling and cooking with her "favorite" ingredient being Peanut Butter! She also enjoyed going to the movies and especially watching movies at home with her dad since he didn't enjoy going to the theater. Leslie also had a very special bond with her mom; they always enjoyed spending quality time together and they were best friends to each other.
Leslie also enjoyed crocheting and watching cooking shows; particularly, "Beating Boby Flay" and "Master Chef". Her other pastimes included doing puzzles and reading poems. Leslie loved being in the house of the Lord and in 2012 she found her church home at Beltway Church of Christ where she was baptized and became a member.
A true friend and sister in Christ, Leslie was beautiful in all ways; always. She was able to reconnect with high school friends whom she would regularly spend time with enjoying lunches and outings. Although distance separated them, Leslie's friendship with her best friend Paula Thorton never skipped a beat and she was also the Godmother to her children, Jade and Jackson. Leslie's beautiful spirit made it easy for her to establish loving longstanding relationships with many that she met.
Leslie is survived by her mom Ruth Ann and her brother Mark.
She is also survived by her grandmother Dorothy Bowie, aunts Freda (Phil), Clarissa and Maria, uncle Rod (Teresa), niece Leah, nephews Mark, Jr., Ray, a host of cousins and her Beltway Church of Christ family.
She was preceded in death by her father Sylvester Eugene Heath, aunts June Scott, Beverly ("Pixie") Hollingsworth, uncles David Bowie, Charlie Bowie, and Donald Bowie, and her cousin Althea Scott.
