Obituary

LeRoy Heyward Grant, affectionately called "Reggie," departed this life on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at Medstar Southern Maryland Hospital in Clinton, Maryland. Reggie was born, June 1, 1939 to the late Eddie Ree Grant and Mary Jeanette (Jamerson) Grant. He attended  Oklahoma Public School System. He proudly joined the U.S. Navy, attended Howard University, then joined the Army Reserve from which he retired after 30 years of service. He met and married his wife, Martha Virginia (Baker) Grant, whom he affectionately called "Ginny."  Two children, Marcus and Tamera Grant, were born from this union.

Reggie was an avid Redskins fan (win or lose) and he loved music and dancing. He never met a stranger; he related to everyone and could speak on any subject. There was never a dull or sad moment around him. His humor and spirit would always brighten up a room. Reggie was also a family man who cherished family time; whether playing games, telling jokes, having movie night, or giving family members nicknames. You could always find him outside maintaining his manicured lawn, planting flowers and vegetables. He was a great adviser to his children and a father figure to many of their friends. Reggie was very dependable and family and friends knew he was just a phone call away to help.

Reggie was preceded in death by his parents; Eddie Ree Grant, Mary Jeanette Jamerson and brothers, PM Mark and Lantz Grant. Leaving to mourn and cherish his precious memories: wife, Martha Grant "Ginny," children, Mona Parker (Anthony), Eugene, Marcus and Tamera Grant; grandchildren, great grandchildren, sister, Elizabeth Wallace, brother, Robert Grant (Helen); sisters-in-law, Shirley Greene (James), Raina Taylor and Joyce Baker; brothers-in-law; Aubrey Baker and Hillary Baker (Cynthia) and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
