Life Journey

Leon James Dyson, Jr., affectionally known as "Junior, Flip or Big Daddy" was born on August 14, 1961, in Accokeek, Maryland to his parents, Mary Mildred Dyson and Leon James Dyson, Sr.  Leon received his education in Prince Georges County Public Schools.  In 1979 he graduated from Gwynn Park High School. Leon accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and attended Macedonia Baptist Church. On October 1, 2020 Leon transitioned from this life to eternal life.

Leon retired from Charles County Government as a Heavy Equipment Operator working for over ten years. During this time he received many awards and special recognition for his hard work and dedication. Leon loved sports! He was an excellent basketball and football player.  He also loved running track and set many school records in track and field.  He was an avid football fan but was a die-hard Redskin Fan.  Leon loved his family!  Being around family was his greatest joy! At family gatherings he was the life of the party.  His family could always count on him for a good joke and laughter. Leon had a joyful life, his favorite saying was "PEACE AND LOVE".  Growing up on "Dyson Lane" he was the "grill master" for family gatherings or you would find him relaxing on the lawn mower.  Besides spending time with his family and friends, Leon had a passion for dancing, playing pool, cooking, watching TV and listening to music.  Later, in his journey, he enjoyed watching Food Network, Ice Road Trucker, and all Bruce Lee movies.  Leon will always be known for his energetic personality and encouraging words.  He touched many lives with his generosity, loving spirit and unbearable laughter. He will always be remembered by his huge smile, uplifting personality and dedication to his family and friends.

Leon is reunited in heaven with his two sons, Leon James Dyson III and Marcus Jamar Willis; brothers, Allan Dyson and Corey Dyson; grandmothers, Inez Thomas and Catherine Dyson; grandfather, Robert Thomas; aunt, Pauline "Gaga" Gladden; uncles, Thomas "Dickie" Dyson and William "Chippy" Chase; aunts, Jean Dyson-King and Shirley Thompson.
