With hearts filled with sorrow, love and gratitude, we honor and celebrate the life of Lemuel Thomas who peacefully entered eternal rest on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. Lemuel was born on November 10, 1939 to the late Phillip and Hazel Thomas. He grew up with 8 loving siblings. His nicknames were "June, Junie, Tommy and Lem."Lemuel was educated in the Calvert County Public School system and graduated from W. M. Sampson Brooks High School in 1959. He later built a long and dedicated career as a Maintenance Supervisor at Eastover Shopping Center, where he faithfully worked for 50 years before retiring. His commitment, reliability, and strong work ethic were evident throughout his many years of service. .
Lemuel married the late Georgia Lee Thomas (Gross) in 1966. Together, they built a loving home and raised four beautiful daughters, whom he cherished deeply and lovingly doted on throughout their lives.
He loved listening to music and dancing. His favorite groups were: Al Green, The Isley Brothers and The Temptations. He enjoyed his mothers' and sister Rebeccas' homemade cakes, pies and root beer. He never stopped eating cakes, pies and candy.
He was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle who will be missed tremendously.Lemuel was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Lee; parents, Phillip and Hazel Thomas; daughters, Sharon Harris and Lesley Young; his grandson, Darryl Hairston II; his loving son-in-law, Reginald Scott; brother, Richard Thomas, Sr.; sister, Louise Taylor; and niece, Kathy Thomas.Lemuel leaves behind his loving children, Evangeline, Lemuel (Alison), Randy (Gail), Phyllis, Tina (Darryl), and Linnette; his grandchildren, Chance (Kearston), Tondalai (Maurice Sr.), Shamone (Lamont) Daman, Jasmine, Taylor, Stephen Jr.(Regina), Cedric, Randy Jr., Daijha and Logan; one great grandson, Maurice Jr.; six siblings: Phillip, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Charlotte, Phyllis and Hazel Thomas; brothers-in-law: Rodell Mackall, George Gross, Jr., Alfred Gross and Larry Gross; sisters-in-law: Roberta Parran, Claudette Smith, Wanda Gross and Teresa Gross; and one godson, Melvin M. Thomas. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom he cherished and loved.
