Bettis

Leia Jessica Bettis was born to Lawrence Maurice Bettis Jr., and Judy Marable Bettis in Clinton, Maryland on June 2, 1997. Leia attended Anne Beers Elementary School, in Washington, DC and Rosaryville Elementary in Upper Marlboro, during her early years. She later attended James Madison Middle School in Upper Marlboro and later graduated from North Point High School in Waldorf, Maryland in 2015. While attending North Point, Leia was a member of the Future Business Leaders of America. In the fall of 2015, Leia began to attend Frostburg State University, and her major area of study was business. While attending Frostburg University, she co-founded the organization "Calling All Queens". The organization was established to promote the empowerment of women on the campus of Frostburg State University. She also served as vice president of the organization. In the spring of 2017, Leia began a position as a hostess at Boston's Gourmet Pizza restaurant. Leia had planned to continue her studies, locally, in the fall of 2018.
Lay-lay as she was affectionately known by her family was a very outgoing, spirited and passionate young woman. Two major causes that provoked her passion were social justice and the care of animals. Leia's other interests included fashion, hair care, the Word of God and delicious food. Family time was incredibly important to Leia, as well. Some of her favorite family functions included: the annual Christmas Eve celebration, family summer vacations, August weekends with cousin Joy, birthdays and family reunions.
Leia Jessica Bettis departed this life on July 28, 2017. She leaves to mourn and to cherish her memory, her mother, Judy Marable-Bettis; sister, Lauren Cassie Bettis; grandparents, Lawrence and Sheree Bettis; aunts, Tonnette Goodman, Celestine Watts, Diane Mishoe, Dorothy Williams, Valorie Davis, Laurie Marable, Charlotte Bellamy; uncles, Eugene Marable, Donnell Watts, Daryl Mishoe, Thurman Herring, and a host of cousins.
Leia was baptized at an early age and received the Lord as a teenager. Leia loved the Lord and studying the word of God. Leia will now find eternal rest laid in interment next to her father, Lawrence and with her Heavenly father.
