GASKINS, LEE ANNA RICHARDSON (AGE 75) OF UPPER MARLBORO, MD
Lee Anna Richardson Gaskins was born September 16, 1939, to the late Peter Jr. and Luella Richardson in Drummonds, Tennessee. She went home to be with the Lord on December 31, 2014. She grew up in a loving home with 11 siblings. At an early age, she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior. In 1958, she graduated from Frazier High School in Covington, TN, then moved to Washington, DC, to pursue an education at Atlanta Business School. She graduated in 1962. Later on, she attended Washington Saturday College and graduated with an Associate of Arts degree in Biology. She began working as an EKG Technician at Sibley Hospital for a short time before providing 23 years of service at DC General Hospital as a Diagnostic Cardiology Technician. She continued her work at Providence Hospital until retiring in 2012.
A devoted member of Corinthian Baptist Church she met the love of her life Augustus T. Gaskins Jr. They were married on September 21, 1963, and from this union Desha Gaskins Taylor and Delisa Gaskins were born. She loved her daughters dearly and always spoke proudly of their accomplishments. Her grandchildren, Jaden and Jasney Taylor were the apples of her eye. She enjoyed singing, cooking and taking care of her family. She enjoyed hosting gatherings with friends, and they always left with a smile. Ultimately her greatest joy was spreading the Word of God.
She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and laugh, her willingness to help others, her kind and gentle spirit that touched everyone she met, and the special way she made people feel like a part of her family.
She leaves to cherish her husband of 51 years, Augustus T. Gaskins Jr., daughters Desha Taylor and Delisa Gaskins; grandchildren Jaden and Jasney Taylor; sisters Evalois Heaston, Earline (John) Buford, Argusta (Ron) Coleman; brothers Earl Richardson, Edward (Pearlie) Richardson, Morris Richardson; brother-in-law Superintendent Carl Payne; and a host of family members and dear friends. Lee Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Luella Richardson, and siblings Evelena Pryor, Bernice Payne, Linwood Richardson, Wavie Richardson and Samuel Richardson.
Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 10, 1p.m. at Christ Kingdom Church, 6809 District Heights Parkway, District Heights, MD 20747. Homegoing Services will be held in Millington, TN.
