THE OBITUARY
For
LANCE T. MCCLURE
Lance Terrence McClure peacefully transitioned home to be with the Lord on Friday September 29, 2017. Lance was born on February 6, 1961 to Willard C. Brown and Claudette E. McClure in Washington D.C.
Lance was educated in P.G. County public schools graduating from Suitland High School in 1979. While Lance did well in school, information technology seemed to the field that drew his attention. Following high school, he attended trade schools and earned various certificates in Information Technology. Lance had a knack with computers and went to work at various IT organizations in both private industry and the Federal Government including the World Bank and the Pentagon.
Lance had a love for sports and even played tennis. While he liked all sports, football was his favorite. He played football for the S.E. Boys Club and Suitland High School and won several athletic awards. His favorite football team was the Washington Redskins and he along with his mom and brother would support them every season, no matter how well (or not) they played.
Lance loved his family and had a big heart. He often showed his love in his own unique way. Whether making sure his brother had Nike tennis shoes growing up, giving a desk to his cousin when going away to college, surprising his cousin on her birthday just to spend time with her, or showing up for his nephew's PoP Warner football games, he would show his love. Lance also loved God and committed his life to him. Having come from a God conscious family, Lance did not stray from the Lord. He was a member of Unity of Love Praise Temple as well as Cornerstone Peaceful Bible Baptist church where he served as an usher for a brief period of time.
Lance leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother: Claudette E. McClure; one brother: Damon Q. McClure (Karen); three nephews: Jovan C. McClure, Isaac C. McClure, Damon A. McClure; one aunt: Jean Gary; cousins: Warren Gary (Jasina), James Gary (Diana), Kevin Gary, Renee Calloway, Cynthia Carr (Wayne), Deborah Parsons, Robert Ellis (Sharon), Ronald Ellis (Michelle), Sharon Hamilton, Denise Hamilton, Eric Hamilton, Renee Hamilton (deceased), and a host of family, friends, and loved ones.
