On Tuesday, June 12, 2018, Lana Sue Dorsey of Waldorf, Maryland, quietly and peacefully departed this life at INOVA Fairfax Hospital, Falls Church, Virginia.

She was born on June 22, 1950, in Rison, Maryland. Lana was the seventh child to the late Richard Harry and Blanche Ennis Dorsey. She was the seventh of eleven children. Ms. Dorsey had nine sisters and one brother. The Dorsey family resided in Rison, Maryland. In 1970, she graduated from Henry E. Lackey High School in Indian Head, Maryland. After graduating, Lana worked various jobs throughout Charles County and Prince George's County. In 2017, she retired from Safeway, Inc., as a florist.

Ms. Dorsey was an avid Washington Redskins fan. She prided herself by the number of Redskins' paraphernalia she owned. You would often find her yelling at the TV on game day. Lana also loved to cook, make beautiful floral arrangements and spend time with family. Lana was affectionately called/referred to as "Road Dog" by her niece, Pamela Tinson, when they got together to have fun during the family reunion. In her spare time, she loved to watch game shows and do word search puzzles alongside her beloved pet dog, Max.

Lana lived an abundant life, full of joy and happiness. She will be missed by many friends and relatives who cared and loved her. She will forever be in our hearts.

Ms. Dorsey was preceded in death by her parents, son, Shawn Delray Dorsey and sisters, Jane Parker, Alice, Brenda and Gale Dorsey.

Lana leaves behind, daughters, Paula M. Dorsey and Crystal D. Young, sisters, Shirley Green, Dorethea, Margaret, Rose, Joyce Dorsey and Patricia Dorsey-Falls, brother, Richard Dorsey, grandson, Ryan Gomillion, granddaughter, LaShawn Dorsey, great grandchildren, Za'Maria Dodson, Da'Shawn Prunty and a host of nieces and nephews.


Her Viewing will be, 10:00 am until time of Service, 11:00 am, Wednesday, June 20, 2018 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A.  Interment, Heritage Memorial Cemetery, 13472 Poplar Hill Road, Waldorf, Maryland 20601.
