Obituary

LaMay Irene (Atlee) Amiker
was the twelfth child, born to Charles W. Atlee and Mabel I. Atlee in Bryans Road, Maryland on April 21, 1928. She departed this life on April 23, 2017 after a long illness at The Montgomery Medstar Hospital in Olney, Maryland.

LaMay received her education in the Charles County Public School system, graduating from Pomonkey High School in 1951. She received further education at Maryland State College in Princess Anne, Maryland and graduated with a BA degree. After college, she worked a short time in Public Service in Washington, D.C. In 1955, she met and married Addison Amiker of Jacksonville, Florida. From that union, they were blessed with two precious sons, Gregory and Derryk. She then became a full time home maker caring for the family.

She will be remembered for her quiet nature, love of family and friends. She had a passion for caring for the gardens in her yard and enjoyed growing beautiful flowers, trees and vegetables especially tomatoes and cucumbers. She also enjoyed sewing and needle work. LaMay enjoyed reading the daily newspaper, listening to Country and Gospel music, and watching TV shows particularly old westerns. She was a "die-hard" Redskins fan and enjoyed watching Georgetown basketball. She attended Metropolitan Methodist AME Church in Pomonkey, Maryland before she moved to Washington, D.C.

She was a resident of Silver Spring, Maryland at the time of her death. She will always be remembered as the baby sister.

LaMay was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five sisters and five brothers. She is survived by her devoted sons, Gregory and Derryk (BT wife) of Silver Spring and Rockville Md., a dear sister, Elfrieda Lee of Washington, D.C., a sister-in-law, Dorothy Atlee of Indian Head, Maryland, a brother-in-law, Merice Amiker of Las Vegas, Nevada, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
