Kitt Alexander Harrison (1934-2022)

Transitioned peacefully in his sleep, Wednesday, Aug 03, 2022. The viewing will occur 11:00 a.m August 16 ^, 2022 at Thornton Funeral Home 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640. The service take place at 12:00 p.m., with Interment at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery.

Celebration of Life

Kitt Alexander Harrison was born on May 5, 1934, in Thomasburg, VA. He grew up in Lawrenceville, VA area and was the 11th of 13 children born to the late Kitt Christopher Harrison and Mary Meade Harrison.

Kitt attended high school at Saint Paul's College in Brunswick County, VA. He then moved to Washington, DC.

In 1955, he married Patricia Marbury. Of this union came three children Tonya, Michael, and Kimberly Harrison.  Kitt worked at the Indian Head Naval Ordinance Station prior to being drafted into the United States Army. Once honorably discharged from the Army, he returned to the Indian Head Naval Ordinance Station until he retired. Kitt then kept busy by working at various jobs involving carpentry and home improvement. He was an active member of the American Legion and bowling leagues.

Toward the end of his life, Kitt found pleasure by sitting in his favorite chair, watching sports and the news; dutifully being attended to by his Granddaughter, Chanita (the apple of his eye, who could do no wrong), who was responsible for nursing activities; joking with his son Michael, and lunches with his daughter Tonya. Kitt took pride in bringing joy and laughter to his children and grandchildren who affectionally called him Pop or Pop-pop. There were many family road trips to the parks, the zoo, weekly bushels of crabs with 7-11 Slurpee's, going bowling, building tree houses, swings, and sandboxes for his grandchildren but his favorite thing to do was to cook on the grill.

Kitt was preceded in death by his daughter Kimberly Harrison and will always be remembered in the hearts of his wife, Patricia Harrison, daughter, Tonya; son, Michael; granddaughters Chante, Chanita and Michelle; grandsons, Keith and Christopher (Rekeyiah); honorary grandson Martin;  sister, Missouri and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and other family and friends.

Viewing, 11:00 a.m. until time of Service, 12 noon, Tuesday, August 16, 2022 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640.  Interment, Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, Maryland 20623.
