Kevin Wesley Underdown departed this life on March 7, 2024. He was born on April 20, 1958 at Freedman's Hospital in Washington, DC to the late Alfred and Gladys Underdown. He was one of 5 children.
Kevin attended St. Mary of the Mill Elementary School in Laurel, Maryland. He graduated from St. Vincent Pallotti High School in 1976. Kevin received his Bachelor's of Science Degree in Speech Pathology from Frostburg State University and a dual Master's Degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology from Towson State University. Kevin was an outstanding athlete, he played football, basketball, baseball and ran track starting in the Laurel Boys and Girls Club, advancing through high school as well as playing on the Frostburg State University football and baseball teams. His love of baseball led him to play on the family baseball team, the Pisgah Boo Boos, with his uncles and numerous cousins. During his later years he became an avid hula hooper.
Kevin began his career with the Baltimore City Public School System as a special education teacher. He later worked for Feld Entertainment and recently retired from Giant Food of Maryland.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Gladys Underdown. Left to cherish his memory is his daughter Ashley Underdown, his granddaughter Lundyn, his sisters Sharen White, Karen Day, Erica Underdown and Linda Butler. His nieces and nephews, Amber Day, Chris White, Justin Butler, Brittany White, Chris White, Jared Butler and Aaron Solomon. His great nieces and nephews, Landon, Aja, Brylan, Kellan, Layla, Jalen and Logan; long time friend Towanda as well as numerous relatives and friends.
Kevin was generous of heart and spirit and was a friend to everyone he met.
Friends may visit with the family Monday, March 25, 2024 from 9am until time of funeral service,10am in The Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road Indian Head, Maryland 20640. Interment immediately to follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery, St. Mary's Avenue, LaPlata, Maryland.
