McKeiver, Kevin L. (Age 58) of District Heights, Maryland

Kevin L. McKeiver was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and dear friend to many. He peacefully transitioned on August 17, 2025 in his home surrounded by family. He was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Ronald T. McKeiver Sr. and Yvonne F. McKeiver on April 15, 1967, where he was also raised.

He graduated from Olney High School in 1985 and moved to Maryland in 1989. He began working at Greater Southeast Washington Hospital as a cook. Pursuing his passion for cooking, he worked in food service for the next 36 years, while also holding miscellaneous jobs in between.

His love for culinary arts was only a small piece of the man that he was. His enthusiasm for exercise, specifically weightlifting, was something he took pride in the most. In addition to fitness, he enjoyed 1000-piece puzzles, crossword puzzles, sudoku, reading various books, playing basketball, watching anime, and playing video games with his kids. He also was a bit of a handy man around the house, spoke Spanish well, read the Bible frequently, and loved riding his bike whenever he had the chance.

Surviving Kevin is his loving and faithful wife, Tashia L. Carter; their son, Timothy A. Carter; his two daughters, Phylicia M. Calhoun and Ayanna G. Darlington; his son, Kevin L. McKeiver Jr.; four brothers, Ronald T. McKeiver Jr., Curtis D. McKeiver, Aaron McKeiver, and Ernest McKeiver; two sisters Michelle D. Henry and Nicole McKeiver-Hill;  six grandchildren, Jeremiah and Josiah Lowe, Kyree Shaw Jr., Kyair Shaw, Amar Darlington and Kalani Shrouder, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Although not very vulnerable, his loved ones still felt his love, especially through his willingness to cook. He was a wise man, always having the right words to say. Although stubborn at times, he was a great listener with a rather stoic demeanor. His wisdom, warm heart, selfless nature and hidden sense of humor will be greatly missed and remembered forever.
