Kermit John
Proctor
March 15, 1947 – April 28, 2022
Kermit John Proctor, 75, of Clinton, Maryland.
HUSBAND | FATHER | SON | BROTHER | FRIEND
Kermit John Proctor was called home to be with the Lord on April 28, 2022.
Kermit was born to the late Edna and Phillip Proctor on March 15, 1947, in Washington, DC.
Kermit attended Frederick Douglass High School in Upper Marlboro, MD. After graduating, he worked in several telecommunication positions starting with C&P Telephone. He retired from Unity Health in Washington, DC.
In 1990, he met the love of his life, Janice Reid and united in holy matrimony on June 27, 1993. He and Janice enjoyed living in Clinton, MD and loved entertaining family and friends at their home. There you would see him cooking on the grill, telling jokes and playing bid whist. Kermit was a lover of sports, especially football. On Sundays, you would find him representing his favorite team, wearing his Washington "Commanders" jersey, cheering them on. Kermit loved fishing and taught many the sport. He loved to travel, enjoying blue water and white sand of the islands while exploring different locations.
On May 25, 1987, Kermit was blessed with a son, Spenser Blackwell. He and Spenser shared a very special bond. Kermit enjoyed spending time with his son watching sports, traveling, teaching him how to grill, doing yardwork and the list goes on. Kermit taught Spenser and the many young men that came into his life, how to fend for themselves. Kermit loved his siblings and looked forward to their annual family reunion. On November 22, 2022, Kellie gifted Kermit with a comfort cat, "Mia." He adored Mia and spoiled her as evidenced by the weekly packages that arrived with gifts for her including a "bling diamond" collar.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Matthew, Mervine Mason, Charles, Leo, Shirley Smith, and Ricky Proctor; in-laws, Winston, Althea, Dorothy, Doris and David.
Kermit leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Janice of 29 years, his son, Spenser Blackwell of Astoria, Oregon, daughters, Denise Woodard of Atlanta, CA and Tanya Stanfield of Clinton, MD, five grandchildren, Kellie Stanfield (who held a special place in his heart), Daicia, Charmaine and Tyler Jackson and, Kya Ramsey, three great-grandchildren, Joel and Karlie Richards and Dylan Jackson.
He also leaves to cherish his memory, brothers, Vincent and Paul Proctor, sisters, Irene Proctor, Evelyn Swann, Gwynette Artis and Linda Proctor; in-laws, Elaine, Joanne Proctor, George Artis, John Smith, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and a devoted friend Richard (Rob) Robinson.
