IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kent Newton
Graves, Sr.
May 6, 1950 – January 9, 2022
Kent Newton Graves, Sr. (Age 71) of Clinton, Maryland.
Kent Newton Graves, Sr., affectionately called Kenny-G by his friends, transitioned from his home in Clinton, Maryland, to his heavenly home on Sunday, January 9, 2022. Kent was born May 6, 1950, in Orange, Virginia, to the late James Sr. and Rosa Graves. He was the fifth born of six children.
Kent professed his faith and accepted Christ as his savior at the age of eight. He was baptized and was a member of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Nasons, VA, and sang in the Junior Choir. He received his formative education at Lightfoot Elementary School and Orange County High School. Later, he completed coursework at Prince Georges Community College. Kent was a Vietnam Veteran. He served honorably for his country as a Lance Corporal "E-3" in the United States Marine Corps from November 12, 1968, to November 11, 1974. He received a Combat Action Ribbon during the time of his military service. Following his military service, Kent relocated to Washington, DC, where he became gainfully employed as Special Policeman for the Bethesda Naval
Medical Center. He then became employed as a Dump Truck Driver for Triple J Trucking which was owned by his older brother James Jr. and was employed with several other construction companies. In 1984, Kent went on to further his career at Andrews Air Force Base with the Department of Defense. He served as a Fuel Specialist and then transferred and became a Transportation Specialist until he retired in 2010.
Kenny-G lived life to the fullest. With his deep baritone voice, golden heart, and infectious personality, Kenny-G was blessed with a host of friends. If you were his friend, the feelings ran deep, and you were considered a part of his extended family. He was a missionary at heart. Whenever there was a need, you could always count on him being there for you. Kenny-G loved traveling both domestically and abroad. His most recent traveling experience was to Thailand (November – December 2021). Also, he enjoyed motorcycle riding with his beloved brothers and sisters of the Flaming Knights M/C, which is a nationwide motorcycle club that travels and provides community support to various charities. Kenny-G was especially overjoyed when his son Bam joined the Flaming Knights Mother Chapter and took pleasure in traveling with him. During his membership with the Flaming Knights, Kenny-G served as a Lt. Colonel and as the National Treasurer. Let's not forget, Kenny-G was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan, too.
In 1973, Kent married Eunice Green and they were blessed with two sons, Bryan (Bam) and Kent, Jr. He was preceded in death by his mother Rosa Poindexter Graves, father James Graves, Sr., brothers, Theodore and Tyrone Graves, and his youngest son Kent Newton Graves, Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory, his son - Bryan Green (Clinton, MD); seven grandchildren - Alphonso Martin, Brittney Young, Cheyann Green, Shawnice Reynolds, Shanae Reynolds, Shaniya Reynolds, and Jadon Green; two Sisters – Odessa White (Capitol Heights, MD), Deborah Anderson (Ft.
