Keith Loved his Family

Keith Robert Lucas was born in Washington, D.C. on August 3, 1971. He was born to Charles Thomas Lucas and Deborah Lucas. He was close to his mother whom he spoke with daily. Keith is survived by his wife, Wanda Michelle Lucas, and daughters: Kira Rae Lucas, Tia Bell, and Alethea Monique Bell. He has a twin brother, Kevin Michael Lucas, and a younger brother, Shane Jay Lucas, whom he also spoke with daily. Keith was raised by a loving Christian family who loved to open their homes for family gatherings and rotate the hosting houses to keep the family close.  Growing up as a twin he always had his best friend by his side. He enjoyed spending time at his grandfather, Robely Moore's  Barber Shop and grandmother, Dora Moore's School, both in Washington, D.C. He always spoke of his family with love and respect and had a special bond with his Aunt Sis and Uncle David.  After Keith and Wanda married on April 10, 2004, she joined the Army. The family was stationed at Fort Lewis in Washington State. When Keith lived in Washington State, he took care of Alethea and Tia during his wife's 18-month deployment to Iraq. Tia was in middle school and Alethea was in High school and Keith made sure they were well taken care of, only able to ask his wife questions over the phone. He was so proud to be a father; he loved his family.

Keith Loved his Friends

Keith attended Dunbar High school in Washington, D.C.  where he completed the Pre-Engineering Program which he was very proud of.  At Dunbar High School, Keith played many sports and had many friends whom he remained close to throughout his adult life.  Keith was very smart, had a great mind for numbers, and was extremely gifted at drawing.  He talked about wanting to become an Architect like his Uncle Robert, but his passion was Security.  Keith worked in the Security Field during the 19 years he was married.

Keith Loved his Career in Security

Keith loved working as a Security Officer at the Smithsonian the most throughout his career. He enjoyed talking to family and visitors about the different exhibits at all the museums where he had a chance to work. He was a people person and would speak to anyone who would listen about what he did at the Smithsonian. The African American Museum was the last museum at which he worked and he loved it.

Keith Loved Life

Keith had a fun-loving spirit; he was always upbeat and laughing and everyone who knew him knew how much he loved the Washington Redskins.  Anyone that knew him loved his sense of humor.  He joined New Bethel Baptist Church in 2004 and has always put God first.  Keith loved his family, his friends, his job, and life itself.

On Monday, June 19, 2023, Keith quietly transitioned into eternity where he joins his father, the late Charles Lucas and his father-in-law, Eddie Lee Bell, Jr.  He will be deeply missed.

Left to cherish many loving memories is his wife, Wanda Michelle Lucas,  daughters;  Kira Rae Lucas, Tia Bell, and Alethea Monique Bell; mother, Deborah Lucas, brothers; Kevin Michael Lucas and Shane Jay Lucas, grandparents; Robley Moore and Dora Moore,  mother-in-law, Rozzie Ann Bell and father-in-law, Eddie Lee Bell, sister-in-law, Nicole Lucas, aunts; Barbara Moore, Kathleen Fields, Mattie Valentine Owens, and Ira Radden, uncles; Walter Moore, Robert S.
