Katie Marie Washington (Age 78) of Port Royal, Virginia.

Katie Marie Washington was born on January 31, 1941 in Mitchellville, Maryland to the late Henry James Brooks and the late Emma Brooks.   She was known to her family as "Nana."

Katie was raised in Prince Georges County, Maryland where she attended and graduated from school. She later completed two additional years of schooling supporting her career in Accounting. Katie worked for the Department of Agriculture as an Accountant and retired after many years of dedicated service.

She was a country music fan and also enjoyed planting and gardening. Another favorite pastime of Katie's was watching the Alaskan Bush people on television. She enjoyed watching how the family would come together for the common good of their community. Katie most enjoyed taking care of her family and spending time with them, fishing and a rousing card game of Bid Whist. Not to be forgotten was her love of on-line shopping, ordering from her favorite mail order catalogs and visiting her local Walmart.

Katie was passionate about self-improvement and a need to learn what life wanted for her. As she got older, Katie gained a deeper understanding of her spiritual identity. At the end of the day, nothing made her prouder than the time her children spent with her and the fact they all got along.

On Saturday, August 10, 2019, Katie transitioned to eternal life at the Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center, Fredericksburg, Virginia.   She will be remembered as an honest, smart and caring woman.

Katie's memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who loved her.

There will be a graveside service held in her honor at 1:00 pm, Monday, August 19, 2019 at Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Road, Clinton, Maryland 20735.
