Obituary

Kandeh Abdul Turay Jr., the son of the late Alice Maureen (Bush-Turay) Baruwa and Kandeh Abdul Turay Sr. was born on October 31, 1991 in Washington, D.C.

Kandeh Jr. attended Virginia Beach City Public Schools and Prince George's County Public Schools where he ultimately graduated from Potomac High School. After high school Kandeh Jr. pursued a degree in Industrial Engineering at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University where he gained the nickname "Big Guwop". Kandeh Jr. fathered two beautiful daughters Altovese Kadee' Turay (Tyler Warner) And Kaidyn Ashanti' Turay (Lashaun Graham).

We like to call Kandeh Jr. a jack of all trades. Throughout his lifetime he maintained multiple jobs in different fields. His most recent jobs were in accounting where he worked at Fort Myers Commissary and at MGM Grand Resort and Casino.

Kandeh Jr. was an avid musician, he loved music. He was apart of the gospel gogo band TruPotential and a member of the youth choir. Kandeh Jr. served as an altar server and in the youth group. He was apart of Versatile Auto Family where he served as the enforcer of the car club. Kandeh Jr. enjoyed spending quality time with his children and family. Kandeh Jr. was truly the life of the party, he had the ability to light any room he entered. Kandeh Jr. loved to shop and being as he would say "ICY."

In addition to his mom Alice, Kandeh Jr. is preceded in death by his grandparents Mary Virginia (Curtis) Bush and Arthur E. Bush Sr. His aunts Betty Marie Bush, Julia Lucile Bush-Farris(Marc), Marie Alma Munu, Isatu Munu. His Uncle Roger E. Robinson Jr. and a host of other relatives.

He leaves to cherish special memories his Daughters: Altovese Kadee' Turay and Kaidyn Ashanti' Turay; Father: Kandeh Turay Sr.; Stepmother, Rev. Dr. Yvonne Washington-Turay; Stepfather Larry Baruwa; Sisters: Shantel Bright and Yvonne Tity Turay; Brothers: Kandeh Turay, Nabie Turay; Godparents: Fay Pendergrass & Tony Bush Sr.; Godchildren: Juliyah Dickens, Ethan Dixon, Avery Corbett, and Zaviera Bush; Aunts: Annette Hebb(Quintin), Flora Gantt, and Tina Marshall(Dennis), Patricia Munu, Alice Gassama, Jane Conteh; Uncles: Tony Bush Sr (Felicia) and Mohammed Turay; Best-friend Anthony Alston, his neighborhood friends the whole Curtis Drive, and his NCATSU friends The Squadron, and a host of cousins, family and friends.

Viewing, 9:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 14, 2018 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 4275 4th Street, S.E., Washington, D.C. 20032.  Interment, Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Road, Clinton, Maryland 20735.
