OBITUARY

Joyce Regina Johnson was the eldest child born to Thomas S. Woodland and the late Margaret M. Woodland on July 16, 1946 in Indian Head, Md. She quietly and peacefully fell asleep in death on January 9th 2015 at her home in Indian Head.

She was the loving and devoted wife of Eugene Francis Johnson, Sr. of 52 years. From this union four children were born; two boys and two girls. She was a woman of faith in our heavenly Creator and of his Son Jesus Christ. She was a kindhearted, caring, and gentle woman who in addition to raising her own children also helped raise several of her siblings. Joyce was a homemaker by profession but she also provided daycare for many years and touched the lives of those that came in contact with her.

She loved watching western movies with her husband Gene; going to yard sales with one of her best friends and traveling companions, Yvonne Chase or with her son Mark, and attending gospel programs. She could often be found standing by the fence talking to Yvonne or sitting on the front porch with many family, friends and neighbors. Oh, if that porch could talk! She was a wonderful cook and was known for her delicious potato salad. Joyce loved her family so much. She always believed in them no matter what and always chose to focus on the positive characteristics and potential of each of her children and grandchildren.

Joyce was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret M. Woodland; Siblings: Thomas Sylvester "Dukey", David, Barbara, and James "Jimmy" Woodland; Sisters-in-law: Rosa Lee Proctor and Mary Thompson; Brothers-in-law: George Ford, John Lewis Ford, and James Proctor.

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband Eugene, Loving daughters: Angela Barnes (Lyn), Tracey Miller (Lennie); Devoted sons: Eugene "Tony" Johnson and special friend (Kendria); Mark Johnson and special friend (Barbara); Loving Father: Thomas S. Woodland; Adoring grandchildren: Tony and Antonio Johnson; James and Brandon Barnes, Derron Lott, Jr., Lennie Miller, Jr., and Mark E. Johnson, Jr.; granddaughters: Shiquita Barnes, and Nicole Johnson; Precious great-grandchildren: Jaymee Barnes and Nehemiah Ewings-Lott; Brothers: Michael Woodland, Rodney Woodland (Tara), Timothy Woodland, and Raymond Barnes; Sisters: Sandra Woodson (Woody), Deborah Grady (David), Beverly "Mayize" Thompson, Cynthia "Pat" Simmonds (Kirth), Gloria Baker, and Donna Floyd (Elton); Sisters-in-law: Buelah Ford, Gladys Evans, Shirley Ford, Diane Ford, Dorothy Watts (Raymond), Pauline Mason (Ronald); Brothers-in-law: John Cecil Ford, Francis Ford (Dorothy), and James Thompson; Uncle: Sydney "Bunk" Woodland; Aunts: Agnes "Jean" Smith, Regina Quander, and Gladys Woodland; Cherished cousins: Rose Matthews, Diane Johnson, Betsy Mack-Ford and special friends, Kim Blake-Walton and Theresa Brown-Phillips. Joyce is also survived by a host of other family and friends; although too numerous to mention by name your love has not been forgotten.
