JOYCE ANN BELL (AGE 62) OF WALDORF, MD.
On Sunday, January 22, 2017 at her residence in Waldorf, MD, Joyce Ann Bell peacefully transitioned to eternal life.Joyce (Ann) Harrison Bell, beloved daughter of the late David Harrison of Weldon, NC and Mary Magdalene Harrison (Smith) of Halifax, NC, was born May 21, 1954, in Halifax, NC.
At an early age she confessed her faith in Christ and joined Twilight Baptist Church of Halifax, NC. Joyce later joined the Life Changing Christian Center Church, in Waldorf, MD, where she became a dedicated member, usher, and mother of the church, earning her the Pillar of Life Award.
Joyce received her education from Weldon High School, earning her diploma in 1973. On December 30, 1987 she was joined in holy matrimony to the late Ronald Lewis Bell; God blessed their union with two children whom she loved with all her heart.
Joyce dedicated many years of service to the Federal Government; National Labor Relations Board and Security Exchange Commission (SEC) of Washington, DC. She took an early retirement to care for her youngest child; however, her love for cooking led her back to work. The kitchen of Days Inn was blessed with her presence as a chef; with many of the "Joyce's Specialties" being created and sold out! Joyce later found the courage to start her own catering company and ended up in a kitchen of the Prince George's County Public School System; giving her the best of both loves-food and children. While continuing her employment with the school system, she crossed over from food into the transportation field as a Bus Attendant, where she retired from the work force altogether after receiving her diagnosis.
Joyce was always the "life of the party", the cook in everyone's kitchen, the host of many parties and dinners, the supportive, giving, and loving sister, friend, niece, mother, aunt, grandmother and neighbor. Many lives were touched by her vibrant spirit, caring heart, warm smile, wit and down-to-earth personality and wonderful sense of humor. Let's not forget about the many mouths that were fed and stomachs that became full; if she didn't do anything else-she fed you!
Joyce departed from this life peacefully in her home on Sunday, January 22, 2017 after battling a long and fatal illness.
She leaves to cherish her memory two children, Jamila Renee Diggs (Antonio) of Upper Marlboro, MD and Jamal Farid Bell (Krystal) of Waldorf, MD; one grandson whom she cherished, Tyler Aamir Diggs; five sisters; Constance Harrison of Trenton, NJ, Vanessa Lewis of La Plata, MD, Patricia Powell of Clinton, MD, Maggie Tillery of Weldon, NC, and Doretha Harrison of Waldorf, MD; two brothers; David Harrison Jr. of Halifax, NC, MD and Kenneth Harrison of King George, VA; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
