IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joy Marie
Dyson Marcel
February 16, 1961 – June 17, 2022
Gone too soon, Joy Marie Dyson Marcel was born February 16th 1961, to Elaine C. Dyson Myers. She was #2 out of seven beautiful children and she didn't mind that at all. Joy Graduated from Lackey HS in 1979. Joy loved life and she always found a way to be the life of the party wherever she went. One of her favorite places to go was church; she also enjoyed working out, shopping, and traveling. However; one of the things we will remember most is her love for her camouflage. Everything had to be camouflage. It was crazy, but she wore it well.
After graduating Joy gave birth to her first child (Vincent Dyson) who became her moon & stars. He was the 1st grand so that made him even more special to everyone, but especially to Joy. Later Joy met the love of her life Frantz Marcel, it was love at first sight when they met. They were inseparable; he was a city slicker and she was a country girl. They later married and had three beautiful daughters (Natacha, Gabrielle & Francoise Marcel). They were married for 35 years. They made a beautiful blended family of 6 (T-Frantz; son of Frantz). Shortly after moving to Richmond, VA Joy decided to pursue her passion in the medical field. She attended J Sargeant Reynolds Community College and obtained her Phlebotomy License. Passing with flying colors she was offered a job with Bethesda Dermatopathology Laboratory, as a Histologist where she remained until she retired. Life would have a different path for Joy in 2010 she separated and a few years later had a second chance at love with Zachary Duncan.
After retiring Joy had plenty of aspirations, and drive left. It was her goal later on to open up a shelter for addicts to get them rehabilitated for a new beginning, but God had other plans. On June 17th in the early morning God whispered to Joy it was her time to come home. Without any hesitation she surrendered. She surrendered to a forever paradise. Joy was a great mother, grandmother, wife, sister, friend , and confidant. She leaves behind her five children Vincent, T-Frantz, Natacha, Gabrielle, and Francoise. Her ex-husband Frantz Marcel. Grandchildren Kristin Clark, Samuel Davenport III, Kennedy Dyson, Edward Ashford III, Preston Morgan Jr., Ava Morgan, Tory Parson, Annewly to arrive soon. Son in law Preston Morgan. Siblings Gwendolyn Outen, John Dyson, Cynthia Dyson, Robert Dyson, Vivian Dyson. Aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many other hosts of family and friends. Joy will be missed tremendously but never forgotten, her spirit and joy will be with us forever.
