Thompson, Joseph Henry (Age 91) of Bryans Road, Maryland.

Joseph H. Thompson was born in Bryans Road, Maryland on August 8, 1919 to the late William H. and Thelery Marbury Thompson. Joe quietly departed this life on Monday, December 13, 2010 at Civista Medical Center in La Plata, Maryland.
Joe, as he was more affectionately known, was a lifelong member of the Metropolitan United Methodist Church in Pomonkey, Maryland. He received his education in the Charles County Public School system and proudly served in the United States Army from 1941 to 1945. After his discharge from the Army, he continued his federal service at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia until his retirement in 1974. He also worked for the Charles County Board of Education for eight years.
Joe enjoyed fishing, hunting, crabbing and gardening. He would generously share from his garden with family and friends. He especially enjoyed the companionship of the Mall Walkers at St. Charles Towne Center in Waldorf.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Claggett, daughter, Marsha Simmons, sisters; Alice McCaskill, Virginia Potter, Gloria Lewis, Ruth Swann and Jan Datcher, brothers; Richard, James, Daniel, Hosea, Sydney, and Stayman Thompson.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife; Connie, daughters; Sandra and Jackie, sons-in-law; Colton and Allan Simmons, grandchildren; NaShara McClaeb, Sean England, Terrance Hall, Jordan Hall, Ashley Goodwin, Lauren Goodwin, and Darius Simmons, two sisters; Pearl Furey and Mildred Thompson, two brothers-in-law; Philip Sharperson and Theodore Kennerly, four sisters-in-law; Elva Thompson, Shirley Kennerly, Virginia Sharperson, and Ruthie Sharperson, and a host of nieces, nephews and many, many friends.
Viewing, 9:00am until time of Service, 11:00am on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at the Metropolitan United Methodist Church, 3385 Metropolitan Church Road, Indian Head, Maryland. Interment, Church Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to THORNTON FUNERAL HOME, P.A., Indian Head, Maryland.
