Obituary

Joseph Sylvester Proctor was born Monday, December 13, 1948, in Washington, D.C. to Mary Lillie Proctor and Joseph Steven Proctor.

Joseph married Joan Marlene "Molly" Proctor on May 3, 1969. He dedicated his life to his family, and he enjoyed having good times and laughs with family and friends.

He peacefully transitioned, Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center in La Plata, Maryland. Joseph was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lillie (Proctor)Thompson, father, Joseph Steven Proctor and bonus father, George Woodrow Thompson.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Joan Marlene "Molly" Proctor, three children, Robert Proctor (Terri), Shawn Proctor (Donna) and Tosha Savoy (Brian); five grandchildren, Devaun Savoy (Corrin) , Tiara Proctor, Brianna Savoy, Tia Proctor and Matthew Troxler; five great-great grandchildren, Kaiya Savoy , Kameron Johnson, Ka'mari Johnson, Jaylen Savoy and Je'vaun Savoy; three aunts, Dorothy Swann, Hilda Proctor and Geraldine Curtis; uncle, Sydney Proctor; three sisters-in-law, Bernice Savoy, Marylee Proctor and  Ann Savoy. He also leaves to cherish his memory James "Jim" Proctor who was like a brother and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Viewing, 9:00 a.m. Thursday, June 8, 2023, until time of Service, 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640.  Interment, Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Road, Clinton, Maryland 20735.
