Joseph "Joe" Herbert Swann, Jr., age 51, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2025, in Leonardtown, Maryland. He was born on July 7, 1973, in Washington, DC, to Cecelia Swann and the late Joseph H. Swann, Sr.

Joe was a proud graduate of Maurice J. McDonough High School, Class of 1991. He had a deep love for life's simple pleasures—cheering on the Washington Commanders, riding his motorcycle, and taking pride in his work driving dump trucks and tractor trailers.

Joe is preceded in death by his father, Joseph H. Swann, Sr.; his grandmothers, including Margaret Harley; and several cherished aunts and uncles, all of whom he now joins in eternal rest.

He leaves behind his devoted mother, Cecelia Swann; his loving sister, Mary Dyson; and his brother-in-law, Gerald Dyson. He also leaves his adored niece and nephew, Jessica and Brandon Dyson, and two cousins who were like brothers to him—Anthony Proctor, Sr. and Carl Proctor. Joe was deeply loved by his extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins, and will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

Joe had a spirit all his own—fiercely honest, deeply loyal, wonderfully funny, and steadfast in his love for family. He could light up a room with his stories, always delivered with his signature humor and that unforgettable smile. Though private and sometimes stubborn, Joe had a heart of gold. He was someone you could always count on—he showed up, kept his word, and gave of himself fully to those he loved.

He found joy in traveling, especially to the Philippines, relaxing at the beach, playing cards and dominos, and simply being in the company of friends and family. His style was uniquely Joe—always in a Nationals or Commanders cap, a hoodie, and either his favorite slides or a crisp pair of white Air Force Ones.

His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
