Savoy, Joseph Robert (Age 67) of Brandywine (Malcolm), Maryland.
Joseph Robert "Bobby" Savoy was the second born of 15 children to Richard "Ray" Savoy and the late Elizabeth A. "Hazel" Savoy on July 1, 1946 in Waldorf, Maryland. He slipped into eternal rest on June 6, 2014 at the Charles County Hospice House in Waldorf, Maryland.
Bobby was baptized at Saint Peter's Catholic Church in Waldorf, Maryland and he remained in his Catholic Faith.
Bobby married his devoted and loving wife, Jane on January 17, 1980 and they shared a very special bond of love for 34 years. They had no children but Bobby loved to spend time with his Nephews and Nieces and was always willing to give anyone a helping hand when needed. He had two Godsons that he was very proud of and always bragged on them and they were Calbert Banks "Corbie" and Anthony Savoy "JR".
Bobby was educated in Prince Georges County Public Schools. He was working at the Upper Marlboro Courthouse when he was drafted to serve in the U. S. Army on September 30, 1968. He served two years in the Army and fought in the Vietnam War. While in Vietnam he received a Bronze Medal for his bravery and for saving his Platoon. He received an Honorable discharge on December 9, 1970. After he was discharge from the Army he started working as a Truck Driver for Danville Hauling Truck Company until he retired in 2009.
Bobby enjoyed spending quality time with his family. No matter what the situation was his family came first, he was there to help or just to listen and give his advice to make things better. His famous saying was "I am always right" and most of the time he was. Bobby loved and enjoyed chilling with his Dad and his Brothers watching football games especially watching his #1 Team "Redskins" on Sundays' during football season. He also loved to play pool, cards, and horseshoes.
Predeceased by his mother, "Hazel" and his brother, Marvin Savoy, Bobby leaves to cherish his loving and devoted wife; Jane Savoy, father; Richard "Ray" Savoy; ten brothers; Richard R. "Junior" (Salome), A. Eugene "Gene" (Karen), William M "Willie" (Christine), Karl M. (Cindy), Thomas R. "Tommy" (Roxanne), John A. "Eddie" (Chrissy), G. Alan (Marilyn), James B. "Jimmy" (Jackie), Kevin D. (Ann Marie), Marvin's fiancée, (Soraya Barnes), and Brian K. Savoy (Tosha), three sisters; E. Alice Banks (Ronnie), Rose B "Sis" (Earnest) and M. Doreen Savoy (Joe), also Brother in law; Melvin Thompson, and also Sisters in law; Lucille Ammann and Bernice Madison, Uncle; John "Johnnie" Thompson, Aunts; Betty, Lillie, Candy Thompson, Estelle, Pauline, Margaret Savoy; Nephews, Nieces, Cousins and many many Friends.
Viewing, 11am, Tuesday, June 17, 2014 until Mass of Christian Burial, 12 noon at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 17510 Horseshoe Road, Brandywine, Maryland. Interment, Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, Maryland.
