Joseph Louis Proctor,  79, of Seat Pleasant, Maryland

Joseph Louis Proctor departed this life peacefully on February 23, 2023 at his home in Seat Pleasant, Md.  He was born on March 12, 1943 to the late James E. Proctor and Mary Irene Proctor.

Joe, as most called him, attended Sojourner Truth Elementary and Fairmont Height High School.  He is preceded in death by his parents, brother James (Squench), sisters Mary (Merrwee) and Mary (Arlene), half-brothers James Edward, John William, Joseph Thomas, and half-sisters Elizabeth Agnes and Mabel Myrtle, and his only beloved grandson Anthony Louis Christopher Evans.

On December 18, 1965, Joe married June Lorraine Marie Queen.  From their union, two children were born.  They were happily married for 57 years.  Joe worked as an inspector for WSSC until he retired after 30 years of service.

He loved riding motorcyles, fishing and always had a passion for hunting.  He was always willing to help family and friends as needed also.  He bought a second home in Warrenton, North Carolina where he enjoyed living on 4 acres in the country, continuing to hunt, and even raising a few chickens for a while.  He was a true country boy at heart.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife June, devoted son Tony, daughter in law Diane, brothers John "Alton", Bernard "Hungry" (Jane), Robert "Peachy" (Shirley), sister Jean (James "Dickey"); sister-in-laws Dollie Reeves, Pauline Collins and Mary Jane Collins, one granddaughter Nina Simone Proctor, two great grandchildren Ariah Christina Evans and Alexander Carrington Evans, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

His viewing will be 10:00am until time of service at 11:00am on Saturday March 11, 2023 at Thornton Funeral Home, 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland, 20640. Interment will be at St. Catherine's Catholic Church Cemetery, 7865 Port Tobacco Road, Port Tobacco, Maryland,  20677.
