COLE, JOSEPH CONROY (AGE 70) OF SUMMERVILLE, SC PREVIOUSLY OF CHARLES COUNTY, MD

Joseph Conroy Cole, 70, of Summerville, husband of Phyllis (Hawkins) Cole, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2015.

Joseph was born on March 15, 1944 in LaPlata, MD son of the late Joseph Cole and Helen (Makle) Cole. He was a sales associate for Home Depot and worked part-time at St. Theresa Catholic Church where he was a very active member. Joseph was a Lector and Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist. He was also a past Grand Knight and past Faithful Navigator of the Knights of Columbus. Most importantly he enjoyed helping and serving others.

Surviving, in addition to his wife Phyllis, are five children: Vivian Langley of Maryland, Gary Cole of Maryland, Joseph Hawkins of Florida, Terry Hawkins of Texas and Angela Laqure of Florida; 18 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; six brothers and three sisters: Henry Cole, Thomas Cole, Mitchell Cole, George Cole, Terry Cole, Eric Cole, Sharon Cole, Delores Cole, Janice Cole and Lisa Cole and a host of other relatives and friends.

His viewing will be held from 6pm until 9pm on Friday, January 16, 2015 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home,P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, MD. A Mass will follow at 10am on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 201 St. Mary's Avenue, La Plata, MD. Interment Church Cemetery.
