Joan Marie (Dent) Barnes, Age 66 of Clinton, Maryland.
Joan Marie Dent was born, Tuesday, May 2, 1950 in Marbury, Maryland to Ella Lucille Dent and Milton Barbour. Joanie or Ree as she was more affectionately called, grew up in Charles County, Maryland and attended Charles County Public Schools, graduating from La Plata High School, in June of 1968.
Joan met the love of her life at a Lackey High School dance and married him, Francis "Clay" Barnes, June 15, 1972. Together they shared 44 years of marital bliss.
Joan was employed by and retired from the Federal Government. Her position at retirement was Custodial Supervisor at the White House.
Joan enjoyed playing baseball, partying, shopping and traveling, especially cruises and casinos. She and Clay visited Las Vegas and the islands on numerous occasions.
Although Joan was on the go she did not neglect her home as it was always neat and clean. She was fun-loving and caring, making sure that her family was taken care of first. She was very excited to plan and host her husband's birthday party. Joan was most influenced by her mother, Ella. She credits the woman that she was to the values that her mother instilled in her and how her mother raised her. She would say that the accomplishments that made her proudest was the birth of her son, Maurice, marrying Clay and the birth of her grandson, Maurice, Jr. "MoMo".
Peacefully on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at her home in Clinton, Maryland and surrounded by her loving family, Joan Marie (Dent) Barnes, transitioned to eternal life.
Joan was preceded in transitioning to eternal life by her dear mother, Ella.
She leaves to cherish loving memories, her devoted husband, Francis "Clay" Barnes; loving son, Maurice Lionel Dent; grandson, Maurice Lionel Dent, Jr. "MoMo"; two sisters, Doris Dent and Kay Stevenson; brother, Donald Dent; sister-in-law, Edna Mae Durham, brothers-in-law, June Swann, Joseph Stevenson and Darnell Barnes; two nieces, India Key and Temika Barnes, two nephews, Timothy Swann and Kevin Dent and a host of relatives and friends.
