Obituary

Jewel Mae Spivey (Age 72) of Clinton, Maryland.

On August 2, 2016 at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center, Jewel Mae Spivey quietly and peacefully transitioned to eternal life.

Jewel was born on September 16, 1943 to the late John Roundtree and Zellia McLeish in Hawkinsville, Georgia. There she received her early education. She also met the love of her life, Willie James Spivey, in Georgia.

In the early sixties, Jewel relocated to New Jersey. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior as a young adult. Not long thereafter Jewel and Willie were wed in holy matrimony. To this union three children were born. She was employed by Elite Dental where she worked as a Shipping/Receiving Clerk and Implant Trainee until retirement.

After relocating to Maryland about ten years ago, Jewel joined Ruach Temple of Praise in Waldorf, Maryland where she faithfully served as the Head of the Trustees Board, usher and choir member. Jewel loved praying for and with others and writing journals on how to remain a faithful Christian. She also enjoyed growing houseplants and participating in arts and craft activities. She often volunteered her services to help others in the Branchwood Towers Apartment Complex where she resided.

Jewel was predeceased by her father, John Roundtree; her son, Darnell Spivey and brother, Joseph McLeish. Cherishing her memory is her husband Willie James Spivey (Clinton, Maryland); sons, Richard Spivey (Waldorf, Maryland) and Terence Spivey (Parsippany, New Jersey); mother, Zellia McLeish; three sisters, Phliamena Zlock, Carlolyn McLeish and Renee McLeish; one brother, Weslyn McLeish, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Respected by all who knew her, Jewel Mae Spivey will forever remain in our hearts as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend as we will always celebrate and remember the life of one of Gods most faithful servants.
