Obituary

Janice M. Dunnington of Indian Head, MD transitioned March 23, 2024.

On Saturday, March 23, 2024, Janice Marie Dunnington, affectionally known as "Missy", departed this earthly life and entered eternal rest.

Missy was born on July 9, 1967, in Washington, DC, to the late Ellis Butler and Pearline Dunnington. She was the youngest of her mother's 12 children. Missy was a lifelong resident of Charles County, Maryland, receiving her education through the Charles County Public School System and briefly attended college after graduating from Lackey High School in June 1985. Following her schooling, Missy joined the family hospitality business where she worked for several years. Missy's kind, caring and "people person personality" led her to seek employment at the Spring Dell Center in LaPlata, MD – a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting adults with disabilities. Missy was working at the Center as a Direct Support Professional at the time of her passing.

Missy cared deeply for her family and friends. She believed in "family first always," especially with her children. Missy welcomed her son, Claytron "Clay" Hall, in 1994 and her daughter, Princess DeShuane "DD" Dunnington was born in 2003. She was a dedicated and proud mother.

Missy's favorite time included playing bingo, being a die-hard Commanders fan, taking care of her cat and spending time with her family and friends. Missy will be fondly remembered for being the life of any party, speaking her mind and being able to keep it real. Missy had a positive attitude towards life and the people around her.

In addition to her parents, Missy was proceeded in death by two brothers, Clarence Jr. "Rabbit", and Paul "Henry" Dunnington; two sisters, Pearl "Lula Bell" (James) Jackson, and Virgie "Gut" Dunnington; and stepfather, Clarence "Scootie" Dunnington.

Missy leaves to cherish her loving memory; two children, Claytron "Clay" Hall and Princess DeShunae "DD" Dunnington; 2 sisters, Catherine "Wus" (George) Day and Virginia "Tiny" Wills; five brothers; Harry "Phil", William "Bonie", Charles "Fluffy" (Nancy), Frank "Skins" (Debra), and John Dunnington; one aunt, Elenora Bland; one godson, James Carroll; a special nephew, Davion Dunnington,; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
