IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Janet Ann
Hart Stepney
March 16, 1961 – February 28, 2021
Hart-Stepney, Janet Ann (Age 59) of Temple Hills, Maryland
Janet A. Hart was born March 16, 1961, in Baltimore, Maryland to Robert and Mary Hart of Calvert County, Maryland. She grew up and attended schools within the Charles County School District. Janet married the love of her life and best friend, Clifton C. Stepney, Sr. They were happily married for many years and together they had five children. Janet was an incredibly loving mother and not only toward her own children, but toward others as well. Her love of caring for others eventually led her to owning and successfully operating a childcare care center. While running that business at home, she also had a working career with the Government at the United States Capitol, where she would eventually retire.
Janet loved helping others and would go out of her way to make sure everyone else had food on their plate and a place to stay. Her heart was generous and full of love. She always wanted family to get together and tried her best to be the person to make it happen.
Those who truly knew Janet, knew you could find her in one of two places; either at home with her family or at the Rod and Reel Casino down in the country. She also loved a good game of Bingo or UNO, especially when she was on a winning streak. Those were no doubt her most favorite past times, but nothing could take the place of being with her family. She cherished the family trips she went on with her husband and children. She often reminisced of the times they visited Kings Dominion and recalled how much fun it was to stay at the hotel with all of the children. Talking about those trips always put a smile on her face. It was the thought of her entire family being together that made her smile.
Janet accepted the Lord as her personal savior and had a thirst for a deeper understanding of the Word. She would always seek opportunities to have spiritual conversations with anyone who visited her in hopes of being enlightened, and also to enlighten others. At any given time, she would have 'The Bible' playing over and over again on her TV…It was her favorite show and she would even fall asleep watching it. She loved the Lord with all her heart.
With His gentle, loving hand, the Lord called Janet home to rest on February 28, at Medstar Southern Maryland Hospital in Clinton, Maryland. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mary Hart; brother, Melvin Hart; sister, Maryann Hart; and her husband, Clifton C. Stepney, Sr. She is survived by her children Melissa Dennis, Melvin Stepney, Michael Stepney, Martinez (Michele) Stepney, and step-son Clifton Stepney, Jr.; nine grandchildren, Montoya Woodfolk, Skyy Stepney, Airelle Stepney, Melvin LaSane Jr., Melvin Stepney Jr., Sabrina Stepney, Zavied Stepney, Zakari Stepney, and Kayla Stepney; a special friend to the family, Terri Hutchinson; siblings, Roland (Jenetia) Johnson, Perry Lee (Priscilla) Hart, James Hart, Hazel Hart, Mary Hart, Joyce (Carl) Hart Savoy; and a host of aunts, uncles, close relatives, and other family members, and friends.
