IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Daniel
Swann
September 3, 1957 – December 3, 2017
James Daniel Swann Jr., affectionately known as "Bubba" was given life on September 3, 1957 by the late James Daniel Swann Sr. and Agnes Claralee (Hawkins) Swann of Charlotte Hall, Maryland. James attended Charles Country Public Schools and graduated from La Plata High School in 1975. He briefly worked at the Charles County Courthouse while in school, and then joined the Army that same year until 1981.
He then worked for the Naval Ordinance Station in Indian Head, Maryland. He joined the D.C. Air National Guard in 1982 and after thirty-one years of service James retired from the military in January 2014.
James's greatest passion was playing pool. He just loved, loved, loved the game starting at a very young age. He watched plenty of DVDs and videos to improve his skills. His latest venture was studying Sudoku puzzles. He was infatuated with how they were able to make them so easy and then so difficult. He actually had a pencil and pad he used to try and somehow work out how the puzzles were so hard. He enjoyed cooking on the grill and trying new ways to perfect that smoky BBQ taste. Cookouts at the house were always lots of fun. James was also a very good barber. Anytime someone needed a haircut, all they had to do was call and he would be right there. He always enjoyed hopping in his truck and visiting family and friends, popping up at anyone's house at any time. He also made time for his nieces and nephews for whatever they needed. One of his favorite sayings to his wife Sarah was "Lucy I'm hooooooome!" in his Ricky Ricardo voice. At the end of the day, James was always a true character.
James peacefully transitioned to eternal rest at the age of 60 at his home on December 3, 2017.
James leaves to cherish his loving memories with his wife, Sarah, affectionately known as "Bonnie," his sons Morgan (friend, Amanda), Kendall (fiancé, Jennifer) and Lamar (friend, Julie); grandkids Giovannie, Thalia, Mason, Devin, Aubree, Piper and Brodie; his siblings, Diane Dade (Clayton), John A. Swann (Vanessa), Richard A. Swann Sr. (Jacqueline), Wanda L. Swann, Jerome P. Swann, Pam D. Hawkins (Steve), and Tracy V. Swann (Earl); his brothers-in-law Joseph Woodland (Phillis), James A. Dorsey, David Dorsey, Richard Dorsey, Mitchell "Chick" Dorsey; sisters-in-law Eloise Clark (Ben), Barbara Kennedy (Mack), Gale Fenwick, Phyllis Wade (Jerry), Dorothy "Jean" Dorsey, his aunts and uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
