IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Delonta
Sewell
February 13, 1977 – September 3, 2021
James Delonta Sewell, 44 of Bel Alton, Maryland.
Life Story....
James "Delonta" Sewell was born February 13, 1977, at Physicians Memorial Hospital, La Plata, Maryland, to Tamela Brown "Tami" of Bel Alton and James Elroy Sewell of Hughesville. At a very young age Delonta was gifted a father for life, Francis C. Thompson "Joe Joe."
Delonta attended Charles County Public Schools and later earned his GED. It was no secret that he loved to cook, he mastered frying chicken before the age of 16. After earning his GED, he took his love for cooking and being a people person he started his career in culinary and used his enthusiasm to learn restaurant management. Delonta was employed as a manager at the Waldorf and La Plata KFC stores while working at Five Guys and Bob Evans at the same time. He later worked at Applebee's until his health began to decline. It never mattered where he worked, he would feed you! If the walls of the Waldorf KFC could talk, what a story it would tell! Not only would Delonta feed you, he would also hire you if you needed a job. Work was work, and home was home! He hired and fired many close friends and a family member.
Delonta loved summertime for grilling. He would have a taste for grilled food while he was at work and would call his Aunt Paulette to use her grill. The family always said, "I'm going to stop over there and cook on the grill." She never said no! His second call would be to his Aunt Jackie, because he wanted her to make the sides. She never said no! One of the aunts would call his mom, Tami, she was usually working but would stop. Before you knew it, a whole family cookout was planned because one person had a taste for grilled food. You could be sure that something(s) would be burnt. Delonta would say "that's the point of the grill or its Cajun!"
It was no secret that Delonta looked out for everyone he came in contact with. He gave the shirt off his back. He and DeeDee always opened their home to those in need. Their home was your home. Many times, one night turned into months. Delonta and DeeDee would say "what if it was us." When they were good, they were good! Meaning, anytime one was lacking something the other was always right there. To no one's surprise, they always worked as a team and maintained a strong healthy friendship. "What's understood doesn't need to be explained," is what they would always say.
Growing up, Delonta lived in a neighborhood called Diggs Circle. Every one of the kids at that time formed a bond that would forever be remembered. Diggs Circle is another place that has memorable moments. It was the kind of place where the memories makes you laugh until you cry and spend hours reminiscing about.
Delonta was head over heels about his godchildren. He felt honored that someone trusted him enough to give him that title and responsibility. In turn, his godchildren, Lexie, Mack, AJ, Jaonta, Neo, Devonte and Khaleel, also held a special place in their hearts for Delonta.
Delonta loved a good tummy laugh with Terry Cole.
On Friday, September 3, 2021, James Delonta Sewell, more affectionately called, Delonta, transitioned to eternal life.
