James Monroe Myers, age 90 of Fort Washington, Maryland
James Monroe Myers son of late Harry Latane Lee, Sr and Elsie Lee peacefully transitioned to his heavenly home on February 18, 2025.
James Monroe Myers was born December 15, 1934 in Caroline County, VA. He attended school in Essex County and received his diploma from Essex County High School. In 1958, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he dedicated his life to serve his country. Once he was honorably discharged from the Marine Corp. he continued his federal duty at the Naval Ordnance Station where he retired in 1992.
James could never stay still ,so after retiring from the federal government he started to work at Thornton's Funeral Home and Sartiks. What started as a hobby became his second home. He loved his extended family and had a very hard time of retiring for the second time in 2020.
James was truly a family man. He loved his family more than anything. He adored spending time with his children but especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. James loved his home sports team but always joked about how sorry they were. His sense of humor was unmatched. He loved playing cards, hosting crab feast at his home and grilling on his patio.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Lorraine Myers, five brothers, Arthur Myers, Richard Lee, Robert Myers, Harry Lee, Thomas Lee; three sisters, Ruth Norman, Dorothy Lee, Elsie Samuel; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Gray and Eula Myers; four brothers-in-law, Clarence Gray, James Wilkerson, Ronald Wilkerson, and Thomas Butler, Sr.
James survived by his two sons Dwayne Myers, Sean Myers; three daughters Yolonda Myers, Wendy Myers and Monica Lee; seven grandchildren, Nakisha Myers, Tamia Myers, Landon Myers, Devin Wynes, Malik Wynes, Joshua Lee and Cameron Lee; eight great-grandchildren; one sister Fannie Lee and one brother Roger Lee; four sisters-in-law Patricia Butler, Nancy Myers, Sherry Lee and Pauline Posey (Sonny Posey); Godson Theron Posey and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Interment, Monday, March 17, 2025, 11:30 am, Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, Maryland 20623.
