James Lamar Goolsby, resident of Indian Head, Maryland, peacefully departed on August 5, 2017. He was born in Macon, Georgia and was a longtime resident of Alexandria, Virginia. After serving 21 years in the US Army, Jim retired to start a lifelong career in business. His commitment to the love of his life will always be remembered by his wife of 10 years, Iris. In 1993 when the reopening of Ford's Wonder Bar faced community opposition, he helped to bring stability to her business and together they stood "Army Strong" as they successfully reopened. He was predeceased by his daughter, Deborah Davis and nephew, Leon Pitts.
His journey will be cherished by his wife, Iris, sons, Walter and Andre Goolsby, nephew, Julius Ussery of Macon, Georgia, granddaughters, Lashawn Davis and Jennifer Jones and a host of other family and friends. Also left to treasure his memory is his devoted and loving step-daughter, Erika Lewis who will miss him dearly.
Graveside Service and Interment will be 3:00 p.m., Monday, August 21, 2017 at Arlington National Cemetery, 1 Memorial Drive, Arlington, Virginia.
