James Wesley Frayer, 74, of Washington, D.C.
On Monday, January 1, 2024, James Wesley Frayer transitioned to eternal life.
James Wesley Frayer, Sr. was born on June 8, 1949 in Columbus County, North Carolina while his mother was down South visiting relatives. He was the fourth child and third son of Willie Frayer, Sr. and Beatrice Carter Frayer. James grew up in Seat Pleasant, MD in Prince George's County in a loving and faith-filled home.
James attended school in Prince George's County, where he graduated from Fairmont Heights High School and later received an Associate's degree in Business Management from Prince George's Community College. James was employed with the U.S. Postal Service for many years. He later worked in retail, and ended his career as a housing assistant for the D.C. government.
James married his former wife Laverne Warrick in 1970, with whom he had three children. James was a loving father. He was fun-loving and free-spirited, and loved to attend basketball games, music concerts and plays. He also loved playing bid whist and spades with friends, as well as bowling, dancing, and
listening to his collection of jazz and R&B music while surrounded by his family. He loved his grandchildren dearly and loved spending time with them. James and his siblings had a close bond and frequently hung out with each other going to various music festivals and hand dancing events. James also had a close bond with his cousins as well and stayed in touch with them.
James leaves to cherish his memories two daughters Brenda Andrea Dyson and Lisa A Frayer, and a son James, Jr. He also leaves four grandchildren: De'von Frayer, Jemil Dyson, Leigha Frayer and Daneya Frayer. He also leaves four brothers: Willie Frayer (Joanne); Bruce Frayer (Millie); Donnie Frayer: and
Michael Frayer (Lois); and a sister Deborah Thurmon. James was predeceased by his parents, a sister Delores Brown, and brother-in-law Ernest Thurmon. He also leaves a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing, 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 16, 2024, until time of Service, 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640.
