James Allen Fairnot, 62 years old, passed away peacefully at his residence in Washington, DC on September 26th, 2023.

James was born in Orangeburg, SC to Mulvenia Fairnot on July 6th, 1961. James attended school in Washington, DC, and received his High School Diploma. After highschool, James attended University of District of Columbia (UDC).

Professionally, James began his career at The Fairmont Hotel. He was a maintenance contractor for W.C.Smith apartmentsfor several years. Afterwards, James worked as a housekeeper, and finally as a medical tech in the Laboratory Department at the National Institute of Health (NIH).

Growing up in a Christian family, James accepted Christ into his life and was loved by his community. James was an active
sports fan. He loved football (Washington Commanders) and basketball (Los Angeles Lakers). His hobbies consist of fishing, playing cards and spending time with life long partner (Henrietta E. Green), loved ones, family and friends. James was preceded in death by one child, James Allen Fairnot, Jr.

James Fairnot is survived by his mother Mulvenia Fairnot, his sisters Rose Fairnot, Elaine Fairnot Jackson (Brian), Carolyn Fairnot (Wallace Kennedy III), Bernice Goodwin Howell (Pop) and Judy E. Bobo, his brother John D. Goodwin (Vern), Willie Goodwin, Frank Goodwin (Valerie) and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Friends may visit with the family Saturday, October 21st, 2023 from 10:00 am until time of funeral service at 11:00 am in The Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, 3439 Livingston Road Indian Head, MD. Interment immediately to follow at Heritage Memorial Park, Waldorf, MD.
