Obituary

DYSON, JAMES "THEODORE" aka "Hot Sauce"

James Theodore Dyson was born on February 4, 1942, the firstborn of his deceased parents James and Mary (Lewis) Dyson. On May 22, 2013, after a lengthy illness beginning with a stroke in 2010, he received peace in GOD's open arms.

Theodore, as called by family and friends, attended schools in Charles County. He attended Bel Alton and graduated from Pomonkey High in 1962. At an early age, he began working with his mother, Mary and grandmother, Annie picking crabs and shucking oysters to help support his six brothers and three sisters. He realized early in life that if you want or need things you have to work for them. He worked with his father in construction until he was drafted in the Army in 1967 and was sent to Germany. While in Germany he wrote and asked his wife, Sharon to marry him. They married in 1968 and moved to Fort Riley Kansas.

After service he started working at St Elizabeth's Hospital as a Guard and retired as a Steamfitter. He also went to school and became a stylist and worked at Nora's Beauty Salon and Renz Hair Metrix. The customers wanted (James) to roll their hair because he would start always at the end of the hair and you would have nice tight curls. Incidentally, he started oiling his mother and wife's hair before going into the service. He had a nice soft touch and his mother-in-law, Daisy was happy to give him the job. Before his illness, he drove cars all over the area for Enterprise-Rent-A-Car and met a lot of co-workers whom he liked a lot.

Theodore loved to go hunting and fishing. He would bring home squirrels, rabbits, deer and would buy muskrats which he would get Daisy to cook and eat with him because his wife refused to. He bought his first motorcycle and loved to ride. He joined his first motorcycle club, the Survivors and later joined the Blood Brothers. He and other bikers rode all over the states and he loved taking pictures. He enjoyed family reunions, picnics, vacationing with the family and watching old westerns and reading.

He loved his grandchildren. He would take the oldest, Khyree, fishing and riding around. When three of his grandkids, Cori, Corey Jr. and Corshey moved out of state he was worried and missed them so much.

Left to cherish many memories is his wife Sharon (Gwynn), sons; Corey and Byron, daughter, Yvonne, grandchildren; Khyree, Anthony, Cori , Corey Jr., Corshey and Micah, Lena and Taylor, six brothers; Lawrence, Kenny, Ronald, Lewis, Danny, Shawn, four sisters; Thelma, Isadoria, Vera, and Elaine, sisters-in-law; Aileen, Audrey, Freda, Sandra, Patrice, and Laquita, aunt, Ceily Smothers, mother-in-law, Daisy Johnson, brothers-in-law; Lawrence Gwynn, Eric Johnson, William Johnson, and Joseph Johnson and a host of other relatives and friends.
Theodore had a special friend and mentor, Brother Nelson Jones at From The Heart Church Ministries. He and Brother Jones became very close and Brother Jones would tell him that he was still on his knees, a special note between the two of them. They worked together on the Parking and Grounds Ministry where James really found his calling. He loved doing his job anytime he was needed.

His viewing will be held from 6pm to 9pm on Thursday, May 30th in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, MD 20640 and on Friday, May 31st, 10am until time of Service 11am at From The Heart Church Ministries, 4949 Allentown Road, Suitland, MD 20746.
