James Francis Brown fondly known as "Jimmy or Jim" peacefully slipped away on August 13, 2023 at Genesis Health Care of Waldorf, Maryland. Jimmy was born on December 26, 1951 to the late Julia A. Brown and Francis Elmer Edelen, Jr.  He was the fourth of nine children.

Jimmy was educated in the Charles County Public School system. He had multiple life skills such as, farming, carpentry, bricklayer, meat cutter, construction (Metro Local 456), and did home restoration for Southern Maryland Tri-County Committee Action.  Jimmy enjoyed cooking, gardening, going to sandlot baseball games, bowling and Gospel music.

In addition to his parents Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Young Brown, his grandparents and one sister, Joanne Brown.  He leaves to cherish his memories: siblings, Anthony "Tony" (Sharon) Brown, Alice Marie Booth, Barbara Neal, Gloria (Cornell) Barnes, Doris Bowman, Vincent Edelen, Mary Margaret Edelen; two children from his marriage, Keith and Tasha Young; grandchildren; uncle Nathaniel (Janice) Brown; a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Friends may visit with the family Saturday, August 26th from 10am until time of funeral service at 11am in The Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, 3439 Livingston Road Indian Head, MD 20640. Interment private.
