IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Barry
Chase
January 27, 1980 – June 5, 2021
James Barry Chase, 41 of Indian Head, Maryland.
Obituary
James Barry Chase was born January 27, 1980 to Terrell "Terri" Suzette Chase and the late James Barry Farmer in Washington, DC. On Saturday, June 5, 2021, Barry was called home to be with the Lord in LaPlata, Maryland.
James was educated in the Charles County Public School System and he received his G.E.D. He accepted the Lord and was baptized at Macedonia Baptist Church.
James was known by many names to include Barry (Bar), Lil Barry, Chase, Sonny, Earl the Pearl, and Shop Foreman. While he may have been given many names by those who loved him, as a son, brother, grandson, uncle, cousin or friend--none could compare to that of being called Daddy.
On December 10, 2005, Barry welcomed a daughter, Samiyah Marie Chase into this world. She was his world—and always did what he could to make sure she had everything she needed.
Barry had a love for sports, and was an avid Washington Redskins and L.A. Lakers fan, and could also be caught watching the Brooklyn Nets as well. Anyone that knew him or would get to talking about sports would know that he was very knowledgeable about the stats of many sports teams. As a youth he too spent time running up and down the fields of Charles County with his brother, playing for the Western Charles Skyhawks. He continued to play a bit of football and basketball into his high school years.
Barry was a loving, caring, kind-hearted, well-mannered person. He always had a serious look on his face. But behind that serious look was a sense of humor and a distinct smile and laugh. He always looked out for others and would make sure people were "good". Barry loved the kids and even ones who weren't nieces and nephews referred to him as Uncle Barry. In his quiet time he enjoyed playing video games on his Xbox. Barry also loved listening to his favorite artist JaRule and his favorite food was the Tour of Italy from Olive Garden. He loved food, especially when it was home-cooked favorites like enchiladas or sweet potato casserole.
Barry was preceded in death by his father, James Barry Farmer; grandparents, Oscar and Doris Farmer; aunts, Cheryl Carroll, Joan "Annette" Wallace, and Marie "Hilda" Beason; cousin, Allendra Burton.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his daughter, Samiyah Chase; his mother Terrell "Terri" Chase; stepmother, Trina Kelly-Farmer; brother, JeVonte' "Shorty" Chase; sisters, Tamia Fleet (Richard) and Nicole Farmer; grandparents, Russell E. and Theresa Chase; aunts, Colette Chase, Petrina Chase, Barbara Chase, and Germaine Queen (Lionel); uncles, Karl Chase, Sr., Russell "Freddy" Chase (Cheryl), Donnell Carroll, Leroy King, Jr. (Robin), Robert Farmer and Allen Farmer; great-aunt, Lorraine Dyson; great-great aunts, Jean Thomas and Gladys Mack; godmother, Terri Carroll; goddaughter, Jaela Carroll; special friend Shacreta "Cree" McDonald; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
