James Edward Ball, Age 75 of La Plata Maryland

James Edward Ball, was born September 12, 1946, in La Plata, MD. James Edward born to Mary Catherine Ball and raised by his loving grandparents, William "Willie" and Florence Ball. James Edward passed away peacefully at his homestead on Monday, November 1, 2021. He attended Bel Alton public schools in Charles County, MD.,

James Edward met Mary Agnes in Bel Alton High School, and they later married in 1968. From this union, four boys were born: James Edward Ball, Jr. "Man", Clarence William Ball, Sr., Shawn Wilfred Ball, and Brian Anthony Ball, Sr. James Edward was very proud of his four sons. He was actively involved in their school activities and spoke highly of their many accomplishments.

He started his career with Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), which lasted for over 30 years. During his tenure at WMTA, his work efforts helped in the building of the Metro. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and playing his lottery. In his early childhood days, he enjoyed gardening with his late grandfather, William "Willie" Ball, playing baseball, admiring beautiful fast cars, and hand dancing with his sister, Betty Ann. She taught him how to hand dance and they were GOOD at it!!!

James will be cherished by many. He is survived by sons: James (Lauren), Clarence (Kim,) Shawn (Catina), and Brian (Lasata); eight grandchildren: Larika, Brian, Richard, Tyler, Clarence, Satchel, Jordan, Kimani, and Kanesha;  two great-grandchildren: Nuala "Nu-Nu" and Kennedi; brothers: Jerome Cooper, Russell Cooper, Howard Cooper and George Hill "Thurnie", Aunt Florence Stoddard; uncle Ignatius "Iggy" Cooper (Ruth);  nieces and nephews: Sharon Hurd, Michelle  Hurd- McClain, Maurice Hurd Jr., "Block", Stephen Hurd, and a host of close cousins and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Catherine Strickland,: grandparents, William "Willie" Ball (Florence); sister: Betty Ann Hurd (Maurice); aunts: Josephine Ball, Dorothy Bromley, and Alice Warren; uncles: Francis "Frank" Cooper (June) affectionately called Momma June, cousin: Devone Coope r.

Also left in the brilliant light of his love is Eduania Darby; (Ace) Gilbert Bivins; special buddy: "Eshe". A multitude of relatives, friends, and countless lives whose paths have crossed and touched his own.

Funeral Services have been scheduled for Thursday, November 11 at Thornton Funeral Home Chapel, 3439 Livingston Road Indian Head, MD. Viewing is from 10-11am until time of service at 11am. Interment Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery, LaPlata, MD.
