Jacqueline Marie Medley, age 74, of Accokeek, Maryland

Jacqueline Marie Medley, affectionately known as Jackie, passed away in her home on May 14, 2024.  Born to the late James Terrance (Van) Swann and Agnes Caroline Carter Swann on July 2, 1949, in Washington, DC, Jackie was a beloved member of the Piscataway Conoy Indian Tribe and was a shining beacon of light and warmth in the community she dearly loved.

Jackie was cherished by her siblings Joan Swann, Judy Craig, Jazsma Speece, Johnnie Carter (Pedie), John Frances Thomas (Babebrother), Jeffery Adam Thomas, the late Joyce Swann, the late Janice Swann, the late June Queen, and the late Jasen Swann.  In 1968, she married her beloved, the late Robert Anderson Medley Sr. in a beautiful ceremony marking the beginning of a shared life filled with love and devotion.

A graduate of Pomonkey High School in 1967, Jackie dedicated over 20 years of her career as a Data Analyst with the Center for Naval Analysis before leaving the workforce in the late 90s. Throughout her life, Jackie was a caring and nurturing presence, providing in-home care for family and friends. Her door was always open to those in need of a place to stay or a warm meal. She enjoyed playing bingo with her sisters and friends at the Accokeek Fire Department and cherished the monthly cousins brunch. Jackie was also a devoted caregiver to a host of beloved pets, including her dogs BaeBae, Benny, and Breezy.

Jackie's love extended to her four children, Dawn Rachelle (Kevin) Montgomery, Robert Anderson Medley Jr., Kristoper Michael Medley, and Heather Jovan (Harrel Jr.) Hay, who remember her as a nurturing soul, always ready with a comforting word or an engaging story.  Her nine grandchildren, Ashlie Medley, Quiana Montgomery, Jabar (Tre) Medley, NaKeisha (Keisha) Johnson, Harrel (Deuce) Hay III., Ocean Medley, Hunter Hay, Menaka Medley, and Madison; and five great grandchildren, Ariana Davis, Ashton Davis, Avery Peterson, Terrence (Taj) Cary Jr.., and Kailani (KK) Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends will carry her legacy of kindness and joy.

Her Viewing will be 10:00 am until time of Service, 11:00 am, Friday, May 31, 2024, in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640.  Interment, St. Charles Cemetery, Glymont, Maryland 20640.
