CEOPHAS, JACQUELINE (Jackie) V., born Jacqueline Virginia Hill, 64, of Oxon Hill, MD, formerly of Washington, DC, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, (April 14, 2012) and is now with family and God in heaven above.
She was born October 31, 1947 to Robert Warren and Delores Elaine Hill and raised in Washington, DC.
Jackie attended DC Public Schools and graduated from McKinley Tech. High School. DC is also where she met the love of her life, her husband, George R. Ceophas. They resided and raised their son, George R. Ceophas, Jr., in DC the majority of their 46-year marriage, before moving to Oxon Hill to be closer to her parents.
Jackie worked for DC Government for approximately 20 years, before transitioning into the federal government with the Treasury Department, from which she retired in 2006. Jackie continued her education after graduating HS and later graduated with Honors from the University of the District of Columbia with an Associate Degree.
Her first priority was always her family. Jackie was a mother figure to many neighborhood and family friends. Jackie often welcomed these children to her home for game nights, a kind and supportive ear, good food, or just a refuge when needed. Jackie was a genuine, supportive and fun-loving friend, from her card club members, to her coworkers; she formed a bond that withstood the boundaries of those organizations. An individual with a strong character, and a wealth of faith, she attracted and retained strong relationships with people from several age groups and different backgrounds. Her example of fellowship will live on in the memories of those she touched. Jackie was a longtime member of the Ft. Foote Baptist Church of Ft. Washington, MD, which she considered family, as well.
Surviving are her mother, Delores E. Hill; her husband, George R. Ceophas; her son, George R. Ceophas, Jr. and his wife, Milana, and their daughter, Gianna N. Ceophas, of Odenton, MD; her daughters through marriage, Rosel P. Hardy and Lisa F. Green. She also leaves behind her sister, Sonya L. Malloy (Hill); her brother, Robert W. Hill, Jr., and his wife, Dilenia; and many dearly loved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Viewing, 9 a.m. until time of service, 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Fort Foote Baptist Church, 8310 Fort Foote Road, Fort Washington, Maryland. Interment, Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, Maryland.
