Obituary

JEGELS, JACQUELINE "JACKIE" C. (AGE 68) OF FORT WASHINGTON, MD

Jacqueline "Jackie" Celestine (Garlic) Jegels is rejoicing around the throne of Jesus! The seventh of 11 children born to the late Robert N. Garlic, Sr. and Mary E. Garlic of Washington, D.C., she entered this life on August 5, 1947. She peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at her home in Fort Washington, Maryland.

Jackie received her education from John J. Wright School in Spotsylvania County, Virginia after which she began working at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection. She received several meritorious promotions and awards. Jackie closed out 38 years of federal service in the position of Automated Commercial System Specialist. She retired in December 2004 "to move on and enjoy a different life." And that's just what she did! She got more involved in ministry; remodeled her home; and shopped, like sales were going to end!

Jackie professed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the early age of 10. She was secure in her relationship with Christ and her love for and faith in Him never wavered. After serving with various Christian fellowships, Jackie united with the Rehoboth Family Life Center in Upper Marlboro, Maryland where she received her ministerial ordination under the leadership of Apostle Shirley J. Jones, Senior Pastor. Jackie was a giver. Actively involved in almost every type of outreach, she gave freely of herself, her time, and property to those who had a need. Jackie believed that "Victory is eminent through Christ! Never give up!" (Philippians 4:13; 1 Peter 5:7; Matthew 6:25-29

Preceded in death by her brothers Theodore and George, Jackie leaves to cherish her memory, her sons Harold Jr. (Veronica) and Eric; grandchildren Everard, Alexander, Dante, Aaliyah, Abigail, Erica, and Karen; siblings Robert Garlic, Jr., Gloria Easter, Carol Williams, Richard (Joanne) Garlic, Sandra Brown, Barbara Stafford, Bessie Jones, and Doreen Brown (Marc); and a very large host of relatives and friends.
