Howardine Louise Jackson, 90, Nanjemoy, Maryland.
Howardine Louise Jackson (affectionately known as Mrs. Jackson) departed this life peacefully into eternal rest on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at Washington Hospital Center, in Washington, DC. Howardine was born in Nanjemoy, MD on August 19, 1925 to the late Pearl and Louise Simpson. A native of Charles County, Howardine was educated in the Charles County Public School System. She went on to fulfill her clerical duties at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Indian Head, MD. She later went on to domestic work at the Wilson Towers in Oxon Hill, MD until retirement. She received numerous certificates of honor and recognition during her years of employment.
Howardine accepted the Lord as her personal Savior at an early age. She was baptized at Liverpool Point in Nanjemoy Maryland on September 25, 1937. She was an active member of Mount Hope Missionary Baptist Church and served faithfully on the Usher Board, Missionary Board, Who So Ever Will Ministry and Helping Hand Ministry. Howardine was honored by her church family on April 16, 1978 for her many years of service as Treasurer to the Usher Board. On November 13, 2011, she was again honored by her church family for her outstanding service as a Missionary. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 23. She enjoyed all aspects of church service mainly testimonials and praise and worship, particularly when the choir would sing "Run and Tell That". That was truly her life's mission, to go run and tell of the goodness of the Lord.
Howardine loved to travel and spend time with her family. She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, decorating, shopping, yard sales, ceramics, planting flowers and good conversation. During her meditation and quiet times she enjoyed reading, completing word search puzzles, picnics in the park or simply sitting by the waterfront. Her most recent birthday celebrations were held at one of her favorite places, The Gaylord Resort and Hotel at The National Harbor. She was known for her elegant style and love of clothing, shoes, hand bags and lots of hats. Howardine was a true Lady in every sense of the word.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry (Tots) Jackson; one son, Francis Jackson; one sister, Mary Simpson; three brothers, Arthur Mandue, Rayfield Simpson and Steffin Simpson.
She leaves behind to cherish her many memories of a life well-lived; two sons, Charles E. Simpson, Sr., of Nanjemoy, MD and Charles H.
