January 22, 1971 – July 15, 2023
Herbert James Campbell, Jr., 52, of Waldorf, Maryland
Herbert James Campbell, Jr. "Lil Herbie" passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 15, 2023. He was born in Washington, D.C. on January 22, 1971, to his loving parents, Herbert, Sr. and Ruth Campbell. He graduated from Spingarn High School in 1989.
He will be cherished for the affection he gave to his loved ones and friends. If you knew him, you would understand that he genuinely loved each of them. When his time came, he did it with grace, vigor, and a heart full of love for all who had come before him. He will be sorely missed.
Herb was a husband, father, son, brother, and uncle; there was nothing he wouldn't do for his family. He cherished spending time with his loved ones and friends. Herb was a dedicated sports fan—he cheered on countless games, especially when his son was the star athlete, as well as every Washington Commanders and Los Angeles Lakers sports team. Herb loved discussing daily Bible readings with friends and was always eager to learn new things to get to know God better. He also loved cooking, playing practical jokes and debating politics. His favorite pastime was watching MSNBC. He was adored by many because of his kind disposition and kind nature. If you knew him and considered him a friend, he was a friend of his word, he was a true friend.
Herbert was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard, Sr. and Maefield Campbell; Austine, Sr. and Dorothy Dillon; William and Hanna James.
Herbert, Jr., is survived by his wife Sherri and son Kenneth Maxwell, parents, Herbert, Sr. and Ruth; sisters, Christina and Anetris; niece, Jazmin DeLilly; a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws to cherish his memory.
