Obituary

Henry Edward Jamieson, Sr. (Age 76) of Port Tobacco, Maryland.

Henry was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church, McConchie and served as an alter boy. He didn't like to miss or run late for church and regularly attended Mass. In his later years he also attended St. Peter's Church in Waldorf until his health began to fail.

Henry met JoAnn Gray and on July 2, 1966 they married. From this union five children were born, Henry, Jr., Rita, Tracy, Jerome and Kevin.

Henry was a hard worker and in his earlier years he had many jobs; some included working at a truck stop, Montgomery Wards, Hearse driver for Thornton Funeral Home, Board of Education and at Andrews Air Force Base. He ultimately found permanent employment with the Department of Defense at the Pentagon's Heat Plant where he worked for over thirty years as a Boiler Operator and simultaneously worked for Chaney Enterprises driving a cement truck. On the job he was known as "Hank." Henry was a likeable guy and had a hearty laugh. He had many friends on and off the job who enjoyed shooting the breeze with him.

Henry enjoyed watching the Redskins play but also listening to some gospel songs and oldies but goodies, especially James Brown and Fats Domino. As a matter of fact, he spent the fourth of July listening to James Brown with his son, Henry, Jr. Additionally, Henry enjoyed working on cars (his garage at home was filled with tools and automotive parts), and keeping his vehicles buffed and shined.

Henry had a multitude of nieces and nephews and when speaking with any one of them he was sure to call them "bum." Apparently, it was his favorite word of endearment for them all!

On Tuesday, July 9, 2019, Henry Edward Jamieson, Sr., quietly slipped into eternal life at the Sagepoint Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy battle with Alzheimers. He was a fighter to the very end.

In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kendra, daughter-in-law, Sonya, sisters, Margaret, Theresa, Anita, and Evelyn, and brother, Melvin, mother-in-law, Veronica "Pete" Gray, father-in-law, William "Sonny" Matthews, brothers-in-law, James Quarles and Augustus Proctor.
