Brawner, Henry Eugene (Age 88) of LaPlata, Maryland

~Remembering Henry~

On Sunday, March 28, 2021, Henry Eugene Brawner, 88, was called home to be with the Lord at the University of Maryland Laurel Medical Center in Laurel, Maryland.

Henry, affectionately known as "Snake", was born on June 12, 1932 in Pomfret, Maryland. He was the eighth child born to the late Francis Ignatius Brawner and Mary Ethel Bealle Brawner.

Henry was educated in the Charles County Public School System. In his early years he worked for the Charles County Board of Education as the Building Service Manager at Eva Turner Elementary School, and after 25 years of dedicated service, he retired on June 5, 1992. He also worked part-time for the Edward L. Sanders Insurance Agency, Inc., located in LaPlata, Maryland until health issues arose.

On October 1, 1955, Henry was united in holy matrimony to Mary Rosalee Woodland. From their almost 66 year union, three children were born. Henry and Mary lived in LaPlata, Maryland with their family.

Henry was a quiet, yet stern man. He enjoyed attending Sunday Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pomfret, Maryland. One of his favorite past times was spent watching his favorite baseball team, the Baltimore Orioles. He also enjoyed watching the Washington Nationals, and the Washington Redskins; sometimes he would listen to the games on his radio while sitting on the porch. His favorite TV shows were Walker, Texas Ranger, Sanford and Son, and any westerns. He took pride in keeping the landscape at home up to perfection, especially his rose bushes. However, his favorite times of all were spent playing his guitars, family fellowships, spending time with his grandkids, and great grands, who he loved dearly.

Henry was preceded in death by his sisters; Gertrude Gross, Estelle Briscoe, Beatrice Johnson, and Mary Johnson; his brother; James Brawner, Louis Brawner, Charles Brawner, and Joseph Brawner, Sr.

Henry leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife Mary; his children; Hilda (Tony), Rickie, and Allen (Rosemary); his sister Ida Makle; grandkids; Kimberlee, Maicio, Kadeisha, and Ebony; great grandkids; Kyle, Vonn, Khi'ree, Myala, Khalil, Kali, and Prince; sisters-in-law; Evelyn Tucker and Delores Brawner; brother-in-law; Earl Woodland (Mary Jackie), and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

His viewing will be held from 9:00am until 10:00am, Monday, April 12, 2021, Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head.  The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00am, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 4590 St. Joseph Way, Pomfret, Maryland 20675.  Interment Church Cemetery.
