Helena's Journey

Helena Frost Fultz, lovingly known as "Tea" was the third youngest of eight children born to Edward and Daisy Frost, on Saturday, August 25, 1934 in Washington D.C.

A native Washingtonian, Helena received her formal education in the District of Columbia Public Schools, graduating from Cardoza High School with honors. She entered the workforce with the Department of Defense, Naval Sea Systems Command in Crystal City, Virginia. She loved her job and always conducted herself in a professional manner, supporting the office that she cared for. She received numerous monetary awards, achievement certificates and on the spot awards for a job well done.  After 36 years of dedicated service, she retired in 1993 as an Executive Administrative Assistant to devote her time to her family and church.

Helena married the love of her life, William "Bill" in 1961 and from this union they were blessed with two children, Anthony and Sharon and stepdaughter, Debra. Helena cherished special times spent with her children, grandchildren, sisters and other family members and friends.

She was a faithful and dedicated member of Rock Creek Baptist Church from 1975 to 1990 and later became a founding member of Greater Rock Creek Temple of Praise. She was a very personable, loving and gentle woman who was very spiritual. She served as Senior Usher on the Usher Board, Church Treasurer and Trustee.  She also served on the New Member Fellowship Committee, the Hospitability Committee and attended Wednesday night bible study.  Helena was a shining example of a Christian leader, devoted wife, beloved mother, nurturing grandmother, a wonderful great-grandmother and the matriarch of her family.  She only wanted to be a humble servant for the Lord. Her spirit will continue to grace the lives of many for years to come.

Helena's hobbies were shopping in the mall with her sisters (her slogans were "shop tell you drop" or "until the mall closed"), watching her favorite TV shows such as, Wheel of Fortune, Golden Girls, Family Feud, The Price is Right, Let's Make a Deal and her Soap Operas.  She also enjoyed traveling, listen to Motown music, hand dancing, gardening (planting flowers), playing dominoes and cards.  She loved eating Popeye's chicken and fried fish.  However, the most important hobby she truly enjoyed was painting and fixing things around the house. Her petite physique didn't stop her from doing the things she liked, she would get up on a ladder and paint a room or fix a toilet in a minute. Because of this unique skill she was given the nickname of "Turbo Tea" from her children.

Peacefully on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at her home in Fort Washington, Maryland, Helena transitioned to eternal life.

Helena was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Fultz, Jr.; great grandchildren, Justice L. Deal, twins, Jahmir L. Deal and Jahmari L. Deal; parents, Edward and Daisy Frost; brothers, Edward Frost, Jerome Frost, Sr. and Nathanial Frost; sisters, Jean Frost, Lorethia White and Desiree Johnson;  sister-in-law, Carrie Frost; brothers-in-law, Lloyd White and John Johnson.

She leaves to cherish many memories with her son, Anthony (Joyce); daughters, Sharon (Darren) and Debra (Jackie); four grandchildren, Latasha (James), Darren Jr. (Takitta), Anthony II (Taylor) and Eric Price; three beautiful great-grandchildren, Jazmine, Nathaniel and Maxwell;  sister, Daisy Campbell; sister-in-law, Mary Naomi Frost-Bumbrey; goddaughter, Cecelia Allen and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
