BRISCOE, HAZEL EDITH (AGE 92) OF INDIAN HEAD, MARYLAND

Hazel Edith Briscoe, age 92 of Pisgah, MD transitioned to eternal life on March 18, 2024, at her residence in Pisgah, MD. She was born on June 14, 1931, in Charles County Maryland, to the late Preston and Cora Gray. Hazel was one of Seven children. She attended Charles County Public Schools where she graduated.

Hazel was employed at the Naval Ordinance Station in Indian Head, MD as an Explosive Operator. She retired in December 1975 after 19 years of dedicated service. Her dedication as an Explosive Operator was reflected in the many awards she received during her tenure.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her devoted husband Charles W. Briscoe, 63 years of marriage before his death, her son Tyrone Briscoe, and sisters Florence Hamn, Dorothy Swann, Joyce Mason, Genevieve Gray and Agnes Johnson. Left to cherish her memories are son Ronald (Roz), daughters Romaine (Roy), Dianne (Clifton), Patricia (Richard), Gloria (Linton), Sylvia (Charles), Dineace (Chucky), Gale (Emmitt) and sister Lavern (Aaron), grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Her family fondly remembers her enjoying traveling with friends, playing bingo, going to the Casino, playing cards, and enjoying the company of close friends Jody, Delores, BarbaraAnn and Ed, who always visited and checked on her.  She enjoyed watching her favorite programs such as Judge Judy, Steve Harvey Family Feud Show, Lifetime movies, and Christian TV Networks.  In her early years she loved watching the Soap Opera 'Days of Our Lives'.  We could not say a word while she was watching that show.  She would say "hush", "hush".  On the other hand, she would say "hush", "hush", even if we weren't talking.

Hazel loved her family more than life itself.  She enjoyed the many family gatherings such as Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Weddings, Birthdays and Graduation Celebrations.  Although Mom's health was deteriorating, her mind was still very sharp.  She was still telling us many stories about her life and kept us laughing every day till her passing. She will be greatly missed by all of her family, friends, and loved ones.

Her viewing will be held from 10:00 am – 11:00 am on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640.  Mass of Christian Burial 12:00 pm, St. Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 30 Mattingly Avenue, Indian Head, MD 20640.
